  1. You've probably known this but the new Retroarch version 1.5.0 (stable) doesn't fix this, either.
  2. I'm able to stream BigBox fine on Gamestream, it's just Retroarch that can't (or won't, from what poisongoomba has heard) detect/poll signals from setups such as Shield controllers on gamestream. Shield controllers work great with other emulators on BigBox through gamestream, even multiplayer.
  3. Okay, I figured it out. Obvious at it may seem, you need the free VirtualHere SERVER app installed on your Shield/streaming device and the CLIENT on your pc. I made sure that the Mayflash entry was set to "AutoUse This Device" in the right click menu and right-click Ignored everything in the client list besides the Mayflash bar.
  4. I've heard success stories about this but they're about as in depth as "mayflash+gamestream+virtualhere+shield=works!" If anybody has pulled this off successfully, can you go over the steps?
  5. Okay, you may have already figured this out but it's Retroarch that's the weak link here. I can confirm RA 1.3x something worked and now 1.4x something doesn't for the Gamestreamed Shield TV controllers. Other emulators like PCSX2 and ePSXe work with two shield controllers via launchbox/gamestream fine, but not retroarch. It's a shame, too, I JUST warmed up to RA. I was also taking the RA's core updating and controller auto-mapping for granted; currently I'm stumbling through downloading standalone emulators and configuring their controls for P1 & P2 one by one. Thankfully, I can keep the portable platforms on RA. But unfortunately, the last word I've heard about RA devs implementing this boils down to "nopes", in so many words.
  6. I'm encountering the same thing, with 2 wireless 360 controllers on my pc. I stream Big Box to my nvidia shield tv and only get 1 controller working in Retroarch even with Multiple Controllers Enabled on the shield. I haven't tried these yet, but I'm thinking about either 1) getting two wired 360 controllers permanently plugged into my pc so retroarch ALWAYS recognizes two of them or 2) manually editing retroarch.cfg for the second controller, copying the button assignments from first player.
  7. Ah! Okay yeah I was confused hahaha. Wish I found your post earlier. Later!
  8. Ok.... I guess delete this topic since you already covered it...(?) Have a good one.
  9. I was never able to get the RA ScummVM core to work before they released the RA 1.4.1 stable posted Feb 2 2017 (1.4.0 broke something with ScummVM), hence the post.
  10. The default one, and a few others. Haven't had as many stutterlag problems with Retrofresh Detailed, if any.
  11. There's probably a similar post somewhere, but I personally couldn't find it, wanted to share how I got one game running using only Launchbox (both desktop and BigBox views) and Retroarch. The RA core for the newest stable version 1.4.x works but requires the game folders to be named as the "short name", a tidbit hidden deep within the bowels of githubrepoatlaswikiforum-land. Here's my steps: File Explorer [POSSIBLY NOT REQUIRED BUT...] Copied all my "long name" ScummVM game folders to a Retroarch\roms folder I created [IMPORTANT!!] Renamed all my ScummVM game folders to their "short name" using this list: http://scummvm.org/compatibility/1.9.0/ Retroarch Updated the ScummVM core Loaded Content for "Beneath a Steel Sky" by selecting the "sky.dsk" file from the Retroarch\roms\sky folder Confirmed that it booted up, used the "Select/Back" button on controller to get to the core's menu and quit out of it File Explorer [MOST LIKELY IMPORTANT!!] Confirmed that the "scummvm.ini" file was generated in the Retroarch\System folder Launchbox Added the game in Launchbox as an imported ROM file - see attached screenshot for the minimal whatever I had to do Pressed "Play" in Launchbox I've only tried one game right so far which has a *.dsk extension and I don't know if Retroarch requires the folders in its root directory. But I'm quite fond of BASS, so this was a small victory. Feel free to remove the (?) from the topic title IF this method has been confirmed to work for others.
  12. Could have sworn I saw a post about that. But anyways I switched to RetroFresh Detailed Theme and it's blazing now.
  13. Okay, I'll see. I'm one of those that have a K series intel CPU so I've always had bad lag and stuttering when scrolling on Big Box. Thanks for the posts with recommendations about that, I think it may require a CPU change to finally smooth things out.
  14. I only unchecked Rhythm Games, have a total of about 1200. Will be cutting it way down but am just curious about the effects of hiding games instead of reimporting (which in itself isn't a biggie, either).
  15. I'm currently going through MAME to cut it down (seriously don't need all the games there), and was thinking about hiding them instead of deleting them altogether from the list. My question is - does LB still process hidden games in the backend? True, I can check it out myself and get a subjective opinion, but I don't know how LB is coded.
  16. In the early days of LB, the scraper it used resulted in some near-useless genre tags. I would have "RPG", "Role Playing Game", "Role-Playing Game", "Role Playing" and "Role Playing Game". It came down to me editing the XML manually. Thankfully the LB DB has a preset selection of genres, but some more refinement is needed in certain genres that are much too broad to facilitate easy lookup. Of course, it should be another predetermined subset so we don't have "Hockey", "Ice Hockey", "Ice-Hockey" and "Winter Stick Sports" though. An example would be: RPG Turn Based Action Strategy Sports American Football Football Tennis (...etc...) Shooter Shmup First Person Shooter Third Person Shooter On Rails

  17. The sooner you can get your hands on one the better, I'd say. I'm loving the EmuMovies scanning and LB is working great. However, I'm tearing my hair out with all the "halfway there" PC streaming apps for the Shield. Gamestream - Unless all your games are Steam purchases it's useless. Remotr - Opens Big Box, some jankiness and artifacting navigating BB, had to map B & A buttons to Esc and Enter on a custom controller mapping to go through menus in BB, MANY problems opening games from BB to Retroarch Kiniconsole - doesn't seem to communicate Nvidia Shield controller input to BB Kainy - constant version mismatch, unable to even connect to PC Moonlight - formerly Limelight, requires GEForce Experience which is a tragic mess of undetected games haphazardly linked to Steam, which I uninstalled Splashtop THD - doesn't pick up Nvidia Controller, and gives me a cute little tip about swiping the screen to go into game mode, no matter how many times i rubbed my tv screen it didn't work (i didn't actually but you get my drift) As long as the navigation and game loading part of LB can play nice with a game streaming app, that would be all we need. All that being said, if anybody knows a proven way to stream LB and games from PC to PC that includes controller support, let me know. I thought I would replace my HP Mini Stream with this source of nightmares they call the Nvidia Shield, but this is definitely not seeming to be the case.
  18. Merry Xmas, would love to give the gift of Launchbox!
  19. Win7 x64, Intel i5, 8GB RAM, latest LB version I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden this morning when I double-clicked the shortcut on my desktop LB did not open and there were three instances of LB in Task Manager; none of which I can end the process of. I've restarted regularly and restarted in safe mode.
  20. Yes I forgot to mention that part about Excel... Good news, though, I finally got it to work but for no rhyme or reason. For editing I'm using an XML editor and using its "grid view" that resembles a spreadsheet. I used another website's public API for getting genres and descriptions, as GamesDB seems to still has a lot of growing pains to go through. For example, "Racing Game 1" will have a genre of "Racing/Simulation" and its sequel "Racing Game 2" will have a genre of "Racer Game". Also, the descriptions can sometimes leave a lot to be desired. So far the Excel/XML editor combo has worked for copy/pasting thousands of entries at a time as long as I take out html tags and carriage returns. If there was a way to copy/paste into Launchbox's list view, though.... FEATURE REQUEST! Haha... still enjoying the app very much, keep up the good work.
  21. I did a search on this forum and could not find this specific problem. Have also submitted a bug report. Version 5.5 on Win 7 x64. After editing the XML, in particular the "Notes" column, I get the following error upon startup followed by a crash to desktop. System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid Boolean. at System.Boolean.Parse(String value) at LaunchBox.Data.Game.GetBooleanValue(DataRow row, String column) at LaunchBox.Data.Game.LoadFromDataRow(DataRow row) at LaunchBox.Data.DataManager.Load() at LaunchBox.Data.DataManager..ctor(Boolean bare) at LaunchBox.Program.Main(String[] args) I've stripped the records of carriage returns and characters. Launchbox.xml is not open in any other program. Any ideas?
  22. The dot net 4.5 install said everything was up to date. However, I was unable to reproduce the problem this morning and I have two possible reasons. I *think* I opened LB as Administrator, and I did NOT have PCSX2 open in the background this time. My mobo is a G7 Sniper, and tweaking the dummy power load setting in BIOS didn't change anything. I'll keep attempting to reproduce it though in case I can assist with some bug reporting.
  23. Thank you for the prompt reply! I'll try the .Net reinstall, good idea. I'm running Win 7 x64 on an Intel board. If needed I still have the event logs. If there's any other info I can provide or logging applications that would help let me know, please.
  24. After uninstalling/reinstalling the program and also attempting to add while in Gamebox view, the computer still shut down by itself, again only while I was in the edit game screen after pressing "Add" down on the bottom.
  25. I can play hours on end of demanding games with my pc but Launchbox has recently been the apparent cause of consistent, reproducible automatic shutdowns. Whenever I Add a game, go through the title search and start editing the notes it shuts the computer down without fail. I've saved three event log files after this has happened. I've updated my graphics card driver, reseated hardware, and am about to perform a clean install of LB 5.3, will update with the results of that later. I've always been in List view, too, will also attempt to reproduce in other views.
