  1. Did anyone get the exit script for Phoenix to work? I tried what was suggested and it didn't work for me either. $Esc:: { Send ^{q} } I tried this for both "Exit AutoHotkey Script" and "Running AutoHotkey Script" and neither works for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Responding to this thread as it's one of the few places where people are discussing the Atari 5200. I'm using Kat5200 as well. I think it's great and has solved 95% of my issues, but I still have a couple of problems with a few games, and google doesn't seem to help: 1) Can't get "Bounty Bob Strikes Back" to run at all, even though there's a selection for running it in "40k" mode designed for the game. 2) I can't get the trackball to work for "Missile Command", I've made all the "correct" selections but my trackball still doesn't work. 3) I don't understand how to call each of these separate controller configurations from LB so that everything gets the correct setup. I would need a config for Missile Command w/trackball, one for Bounty Bob w/the memory setting, one for Gorf (which requires some condition changes), and one for everything else. Thanks for any helpful replies!
  3. How did you resolve this? I can't get Gaelco games to work either? One that I'm interested in, Radikal Bikers, doesn't even appear in the list. I tried to open it (or any of the Gaelco games) by clicking on my Rom file, but that doesn't work either. I'm also having issues with "King of Route 66" in Naomi 2 under Demul. Did you manage to get that one working?
  4. Is there a way to set every game in a certain set as "broken", such as the Arcade games set, instead of having to manually set each one so they don't show up in Big Box (when it's set not to show broken games)? In addition, is there a way in LaunchBox (NOT Big Box) to show ONLY broken games? What I desire to do is set all the Arcade games as "broken" then start working through them getting the controls set and work on functionality. Once each game is all working, I'll unmark it "broken" allowing it to show in Big Box. And when I return to LaunchBox, I'd like to sort on ONLY broken games so I can see what's left to work on. Thanks!
  5. I've searched and cannot find the answer to this, or I don’t understand the answers I'm finding. I've even posted to RA forum and received no response. I have an arcade controller board with a spinner and trackball. I’ve seen videos of people tabbing into the game menu in RA, selecting the control they want to change, then rolling the trackball and having it keyed into the game (like for the arcade game Centipede). This doesn’t work when I do it. I select the control, but activating either control doesn’t work. It’s like these controls aren’t even recognized by the system. So how DO I get RA to “see” my controls (i.e. spinner and trackball). Everything else (joysticks, buttons, etc) are fine. I’ve seen some say that a line or two needs to be added to the config file (since both controls are considered like mice, it would be something like "mouse = 1, mouse = 2, etc). Where does this go exactly? Also, if this works for the arcade games, how do I get it working for Atari 2600 and other consoles, like the paddle controlled games Breakout, Kaboom, ? The setup is different for consoles. I also heard that Stella stand alone will allow you to add these controls, but I would prefer to do it all in RA if possible. Thanks for your help!
  6. Seriously?!?! lordmonkus called it! The names of my platforms in LB were not exactly the same as the names called out in the Associated Platform window. Unbelievable! Well, it works now. Thanks to lordmonkus for figuring out my issue, and to Jason Carr for always being there for idiots like me. Now I'm off to solve my next problem!
  7. Thanks Jason for your offer of help! Let me walk you through my setup one step at a time to see if you see any potential problems. As I said, none of the NES or SNES games are loading, though other games that use RetroArch, such as the Atari 2600, are loading with no issues. So let me focus on one game and walk you through it, the SNES game "Super Metroid". I can go into my RetroArch folder, launch the RA application (retroarch.exe), select "Load Core" (I choose Snes9x (1.53 updated) to load), then I select "Load Content"/"Select File", I scroll to my "ROMs" folder, select Super Metroid, and "Load Archive with Core" and the game comes up perfectly. Looking at LaunchBox now: I right click on the "Super Metroid" box and choose to edit. There's the "ROM File (Emulation is enabled)" line that points to the correct location, I even relocated it with browse (Games/ROMs/SNES/Super Metroid (Japan, USA) (En,Ja).zip). Going to the "Emulation" tab, "Retroarch" is selected and the check box "Use an emulator to play this game" is checked. If I choose to edit the emulator, I see that the "Emulator Application Path" is correct but I go ahead and relocate it under browse just in case (retroarch.exe). The "Sample Command" line reads "retroarch.exe "FULL\PATH\TO\ROM\FILE" and the box "Attempt to hide console window on startup/shutdown" is checked. Nothing else is checked. Under the "Associated Platforms" tab, the SNES platform reads -L "cores\snes9x_libretro.dll" and the box under Default Emulator is checked (while we're here, the NES platform line reads -L "cores\nestopia_libretro.dll"). To verify, in the RetroArch "cores" folder are the cores "snes9x_libretro.dll" and "nestopia_libretro.dll". I also have the snes9x_next and quicknes cores but haven't used them. After verifying these locations, I try to run the game again to no joy. What is my next step?
  8. I saw someone else posting this from a couple of months ago, but I didn't understand how they fixed their issue. I had everything working and running fine a few months ago running version 6.2 of LB. I download 6.8 and now my NES and SNES games will not run. I'm using RetroArch and I started RA alone, launched the core for either system, and tried running a game from that core and it worked perfectly. But still will not work in LB. I've checked everything I can think of - making sure that RA is called as the emulator, and that the correct core is called under the emulator config. Loading the games call for the launch of RA with the exact same cores I loaded separately. I had not made any changes to the cores, ROMs, or their locations over the last 2 months. I've actually been working with configuring my arcade/mame games and haven't messed with the NES or SNES games since then. All arcade games as well as Atari and N64 games that use RA launch just fine under LB. ONLY the NES and SNES games are affected, and NONE of those games work now. Any advice? It seems weird that there's at least one more person with the exact same problem for the same reason. Thanks for any help.
  9. I changed my BigBox sounds with music/sounds from "Galaga". Being that it's my favorite arcade game and some of the sounds are great for the front-end. Let me know if you make a space for users to upload their custom sounds and I'd be glad to share.
  10. I could still use some help. The games run perfectly under the Daphne interface, but I cannot get the batch files to work or to get them into LB. I went back and created a separate batch file for each game and placed the command line that comes up when you run it in Daphne. I copied this command line and placed ONLY that text in the batch file. Here's the one for Space Ace: daphne.exe ace vldp -framefile C:/Games/Daphne/vldp_dl/ace/ace.txt -blank_searches -min_seek_delay 1000 -seek_frames_per_ms 20 -homedir C:\Games\Daphne -fastboot -bank 0 00000000 -bank 1 00110001 -latency 50 -sound_buffer 2048 -fullscreen -x 1280 -y 1024 I put the batch in the same directory as the Daphne Loader and I get the same errors as before, about it not being able to find a certain bin file in the ROMs folder or the Ace zip (though the bin file called out in the error definitely DOES appear in that zip). Here's the error I pulled from the log: Loading ./roms/ace/sa_a3_u1.bin ... 0 bytes read into memory ROM sa_a3_u1.bin couldn't be found in roms/ace/, or in ./roms/ace.zip Could not load ROM images! You must supply these. What am I doing wrong? Does more text need to go into the batch file? Why does this run with the Daphne Loader, but not from the command line? Also, when trying the batch file in LB, I'm adding it in with Daphne as the emulator, and have also tried it WITHOUT any emulator attached (since Daphne is called out in the batch file). Of course, neither works but I was wondering which method I should be using. I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me figure out what's going wrong. Thanks so much!
  11. Awesome set of instructions! Very informative with excellent detail. Unfortunately, I've hit a snag. I downloaded Daphne a couple of months ago and got Dragon's Lair 1 and 2 and Space Ace running perfectly. I had the DVD set for these games already and was able to get them working in Daphne with a little bit of configuration. But now I can't get them to launch through LaunchBox. I created the batch file as you suggested (I left the resolution the same as what you listed since that's my monitor res, and I changed the path to the location of my text files). When I click on the icons in LaunchBox, I get an error message (for all three games) that appears to come from the game itself telling me there was an error: ROM dl_f2_vl.bin couldn't be found in roms/lair/, or in ./roms/lair.zip (That's the error message for Dragon's Lair, but they are all similar.) Any ideas? The .txt files I pulled into LaunchBox are "lair", "ace", and "dl2-framefile". I didn't quite use the same steps as you did in the beginning, but it was close. I had worked with Daphne a couple of months ago before I saw your post and the games run fine through the Daphne interface without the DVDs. I also did some configuration in the Daphne interface (such as full frame resolution changes, # of lives, unlimited game, etc), that I'm wondering if this configuration would make it into a game launched through LaunchBox. Also, with my 360 controller, I was only able to map the A/B/X/Y buttons for the joystick positions and the R button for the sword. It couldn't seem to read the joysticks.
  12. Awesome! Thanks for the answers and then some! I definitely want the BigBox experience since my setup is exactly what you're describing. I also like that you take feature requests. Once I dig further down into the program, I'll be sure to send feedback if there's anything specific I'm looking for. Thanks again for your help!
  13. So I'm totally new to this UI and I'm trying to put together a database of emulated games. Launchbox Questions: - What are the differences between the free and premium versions? It looks like there's a lot of visual modifications you can make. Are there any functional (really cool, gotta have) differences between the two versions? - From what I've read, it looks like a license will allow you to put the program on more than one machine owned by you, correct? If you buy the $20 version and have to clean up your hard drive in a year or two, can you go back and download the version your purchased? Or is it just better to go the $50 route so you won't have to worry about it (I assume Launchbox will be around for a while and will just get better and better)? - How big are the sample gameplay videos and other metadata that shows up on the launch screen for each game? If you have 100 games, will this be a ton of metadata clogging your hard drive? - Can someone tell me how to handle "save game" states, such as high score tables on MAME arcade games, saved games on titles that had onboard memory (such as "Zelda: Link to the Past", SNES), and save games for later titles? This may be more of an emulator question than Launchbox, but I thought I would ask is anyone knows the answer. Thanks for all your help.
