  1. @C-Beats This behavior persists for several days already, so I don't think it's the problem.

Actually, I looked into the latest Metadata.xml, and its entry on Rogue Trader looks a bit strange as it has no DatabaseID field that, I believe, is mandatory. The entry on Burnhouse Lane also has no DatabaseID. So the issue is probably not related to the current beta, but rather to incorrect  generation of Metadata.xml. Should I move this discussion to another forum section, like "LaunchBox Games Database > Troubleshooting" ?

  2. Not sure if it's related to the latest beta, but after updating to it I found out that Launchbox cannot find some of the games that are in its database.

For example, when I go to https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/ and search for "Burnhouse Lane", I find it: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/382426-burnhouse-lane

But when I try to add "Burnhouse Lane" in the app itself, it says that no games with this title can be found.

The same applies to Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader and, probably, several other titles I can't remember right now.

P.S. I have of course made sure that the latest game metadata package is downloaded.

  3. Lou, LaunchBox is not limited to emulation. It's about managing game lists of all kinds. For example, its platform list includes Microsoft Xbox One and Sony Playstation 4, which are not emulated afaik.

And yes, I created PS5 platform in my local LaunchBox installation, but having it in the official database would be nice.

Improvement: The game add/edit dialog has been completely overhauled to allow for future flexibility and fixes a number of usability issues with the previous version (such as the multi-select dropdowns)

The new edit dialog looks very nice!

But pressing ESC doesn't close it.

Jason, could you please add ESC shortcut for closing this dialog? Thanks in advance!

  5. Looks like something went slightly wrong with sort titles in this version (just discovered the issue, not sure when exactly this happened).

Originally, the sort titles went in this order: for example, "Deus Ex 1", "Deus Ex 2", "Deus Ex 3", "Deus Ex 3.1", "Deus Ex 4"

Now, the game auto sorts them like this: "Deus Ex 1", "Deus Ex 2", "Deus Ex 3", "Deus Ex 4", "Deus Ex 3.1"

Something broken recently, or working as intended?

  6. Adjustable sidebar width, that's great news! I really prefer my sidebar narrow.

However, the sidebar now looks a bit weird, as if an area right below the icons is occupied by something invisible, and the game name wraps to the left. Looks kind of unnatural.2018-04-28.thumb.png.db166547dafa6f36a4b3044be5ae0baf.pngNot sure if this behavior is new in Next 8.3; but I never noticed it before.

    Probably it could be changed?

  7. It's getting worse... Metal Gear Solid 3 for Windows? Fortran, a construction sim by Nintendo? Really?

I like to help out with moderation from time to time, but with hundreds of absurd entries in the moderation queue, it's really too much.

Something should be done about it soon, please.

  8. Jason, I have no idea how this could be reproduced.

In all previous cases, it went like this: I upgrade from 7.10 release to 7.11 beta, play around with it for couple of days, everything works great, then scraping just stops without a warning. Regardless of what I type in "add new game" dialog, I never get any hits in gamesDB, only in Wikipedia. Tried searching for "a" — still no hits :)

Once the scraping stops, it stays this way forever. The only way to fix it is to go back to 7.10.

the ability to edit meta data using the list view would be really awesome along with the ability to hide columns you don't want to see

Yes, that was one of things I hoped for when I paid for LB license.

It's not a complaint, far from it :) The app is absolutely awesome! (and getting even better) Just wanted to add that it'd be nice to see some metadata edit functionality in the list view, or at least column view customization, as mentioned above.

  10. Cognition entry just approved with no problems, thank you guys if you're reading this.

Guess the first attempt was just a freak accident, 6 (six) moderators declining it nearly at the same time was a bit unusual :)

To avoid this, we really need an optional field for explaining the reasons for submitting or changing game data.
