So I do not know what's going on but I'm very lost and very disappointed

Your disappointed that your stolen and illegal software doesn't work, and come to the official forums for the people who's software you stole from expecting help?

For anyone that wants to know how I just sorted this and can now add PS1 and PS2 games.

Basically I am trying to set up LaunchBox for Xbox Series X. All of my emulators are installed as UWP on the Xbox itself.

This link explains how to install LaunchBox and emulators and most of the info is fine. RetroPass/Docs/SetupDuckStation.md at main · retropassdev/RetroPass · GitHub

However, in the case of DuckStation and XBSX2 It says that the application path to the emulator does not have to point to the real application. This approach seems to be fine for N64 games, Dreamcast games, Genesis etc. But does not work for PlayStation or PlayStation 2 games.

If I don't put the real application path in LaunchBox for DuckStation/XBSX2 PS1 and PS2 games will crash when trying to import them.

Slightly awkward as the real app paths to my emulators are not accessible by Launchbox as they are on my internal Xbox drive.

What works is that if you download the PC versions of DuckStation and PSX2, go through the set up process with your bios files. Then go into Launchbox, set up your emulators and select the app path to the emulator of the one installed on your PC even if this will be wrong when you are playing on the Xbox. It will then let you import your games and you can go back to the Xbox, launch something like Retro Pass with Launchbox and your PlayStation games will load up the version of DuckStation/XBSX2 that you have internally on the Xbox.

Ah, well Launchpass is completely unofficial, you would need to ask over there in regards to issues setting it up.

  3. This is tough, but i have gone with the games that either formed my love for gaming, or i just played a ton of, so not exactly "the best" but the games that mean the most to my gaming journey. (also added a bonus number 6 as its not really retro yet, but i adore it).

    • Treasure Island Dizzy (ZX Spectrum) yes im a child of the UK home computer boom of the early 80's.
    • F-Zero (SNES)
    • Wave Race 64 (N64)
    • Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (N64)
    • Burnout 3: Takedown (XBOX)

    Hi,

there is so many standard games not found in launchbox games db, e.g. Hexen 2, Jazz jackrabbit 2 and 3 etc. the list goes on, is there nay way to add an alternative database source?

    https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/7654-hexen-ii

    https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/results/jazz jackrabbit

Not sure what to tell you other than check your file spelling, as the games you mention are in the database, Hexen 2 is under its correct name of Hexen II for example.

Well I think I know what the problem is. It appears that the Launchbox importer does not like the ( ) in the file name which includes .gba or .zip files. once I remove them from any rom file it shows on the import list.

Thats not true, basically all roms come with () in them, if that meant they wouldnt import then no Launchbox user ever would of been able to import any games at all apart from Windows games.

  6. 9 hours ago, mviars said:

It seems that switching all the roms to zip files instead of .gba  allowed the importer to recognize the roms without having to change the names or removing the ( ).

So I guess im good to go.

That would imply that as previously stated those games were already imported, the reason the zips show and import is because they are no longer .gba files so are considered different files completely.

This error is occurring as soon as I start download manager for emulators. I use to have two versions of dolphin installed but not any longer. I tried again deleting dolphin and reinstalling and repairing the plug in but still every time I run download manager for the emulators I get both of these errors. It will do both errors twice in a row also?  I'm confused on what its checking that it doesn't like?

You have a very strange commandline set in your Dolphin entry, id start by deleting that and seeing what happens.

Hi everyone! I am a romset for mame and for the most part it works fine. I noticed that Cadillacs and Dinosaurs wouldn't launch. I also noticed that Dungeons & Dragons Tower of Doom won't either. I opened MAME and both those games run fine there. I did notice that the Cadillacs and Dinosaurs ROM file in Lunchbox is "dinou.zip" but that doesn't exist in my room folder. This is also a merged set so I am thinking maybe there is some mapping going on in Launchbox to point it to the right location.

The point of a merged set is just that, that the files for different versions of the same game are "merged" into the one file (likely just called "dino" if the USA rom is "dinou"). Sounds like you dont have a correct romset if a version is missing, or you are using the wrong version romset with the wrong version of the emulator maybe? The way Launchbox works is it doesnt pass the physical rom to mame, it tells mame the file name and mame finds the rom itself. Where are your roms actually stored, and what does your commandline for mame look like in Launchbox?

where do you find the roms the link in the forums is no longer working?

You wont receive any help getting roms here, which is why the previous post was edited, to delete links to illegal materials.

  10. In your first post you showed this image,

    image.thumb.png.db3e2d07b6cb897e0606ea58d4ca9a0c.png

Where the platform is called "SNK Neo Geo CD" but in your associated platform image here,

    image.thumb.png.c609d84ab7a55b9289d8eb4f283942f1.png

That platform does not exist, so it needs adding, just double click the empty cell at the bottom and type in the platform name.

I have been using Dosbox successfully for a few months to emulate some DOS games like Where In Europe is Carmen Sandiego - it has all worked well without any problems.

However a few days ago, I've had issues with no sound at all from Dosbox. When I start up dosbox, I get this error message:

    DOSBox version 0.74-3
Copyright 2002-2019 DOSBox Team, published under GNU GPL.
    ---
CONFIG:Loading primary settings from config file /home/jrong/.dosbox/dosbox-0.74-3.conf
MIXER:Got different values from SDL: freq 44100, blocksize 512
ALSA:Can't subscribe to MIDI port (65:0) nor (17:0)
    MIDI:Opened device:none

I have not changed the default config file. All I've done is install the usual Ubuntu updates - could that have broken something and how can I fix this?

    Thanks for any pointers!

    Arte

This forum is for the program Launchbox, it is not affiliated with dosbox in any way, in fact Launchbox doesnt even run on Linux, so i doubt you are gonna get much help with your issue here. Id try the actual dosbox forums.

Hey guys anyone know why this keeps failing? I had a older version of mame and I upgraded like 2 months ago to v 0.264 mame. Now when I try to play cps3 Street fighter or a couple other ones from cps. I get this error when trying to rewrite the game. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thats not a error, its normal behavior, let it do its thing (it only needs doing once and you can use the fast forward in mame to make it faster),

Welp, sorry guys. I've been updating this thread since 2017, but now its dead because some newer power hungry mod/admin who wasnt even a member when this thread was created. Wanna go delete the other shit I contributed like the first intro video ever made here? I appreciate you ruining all of my work on a whim.

If you have been here that long then should should know better than posting links to copyrighted files, which is what you did in your post 10 hours ago linking to illegal downloads of Nintendo properties.

Hi everyone  a quick question, I've downloaded the latest win app of launchbox then i paid for premium and put the key in to register the app. It shows registered but little has changed, I have to still put all the emulator details in etc. And all I have kids more choice on skins. Do I download a different version or is there something I'm missing as there's no difference since registering.

    Mam thanks

What were you actually expecting to change when you purchased the license?

    12 hours ago, Kash2001 said:

Correct, why would you think that would change? you still need to add your emulators and roms in order to play your roms in a emulator.

Premium Launchbox does add some features and skins is one of them, but the main thing it adds is Bigbox mode which is a TV/Cabinet mode designed for use with a controller. Bigbox mode can be launched from within the Launchbox UI, or directly from the bigbox.exe file in the Launchbox folder.
