  1. Does the feature "Scan for added and removed roms" only work if you use default folders names ? I mean i was using it today on ps2,psp,wii, gamecube plataforms and it worked very well, but then when i tried to use it at SNES and GBA plataform it did not work and did not found the new roms that i added on the plataforms roms folder, then i realized that the problem maybe is because the plataform that the feauture is working the folders are the names the launchbox gave to them like the ps2 games folder is Sony Playstation 2, and the ones that are not working are names that i gave like: Super nintendo (instead of Super Nintendo Entertainment System) is there a way to fix this ?

PS.: The roms folder are all inside the launchbox\games\(system name) folder...

  2. It  is a interesting feature, i mean it is the best and fastest way to show your game collection to a friend online, at First i thought that this would be a kind of backup which you could use to Sync your collection on diferent machines or back it up from cloud, i was  even a bit afraid to Sync And lose my settings so i have saved my data And metadata in a safe place before syncing, but it seems to only upload your data And does not donwload anything.

Ahhh some games in collection do not show the covers maybe it is because i use some images that i had to search because they are not in launchbox games data base.

Here is my collection, only around 2k games because of the 1Tb limitation of my external hard drive (already planing to get a 2tb one haha)

This would be a great feature. Two profiles. One as a live, ready for the public to see profile and another as a working profile to tinker with but both sharing the same assets. Do we know if there is a ticket open for this that can be voted on?

Yes this can have many useful functions... i hope we can see this in launchbox later...

  4. I started my collection some months ago, at first i just said to myself that i would only add the games that i played, knew or wanted to know, but then after sometime i got myself adding more and more games, then i got some romsets, which i would like to add but i feel like the collection will be just a generic one if i do that, so i thought about adding the romsets as new plataforms but then there's is the media space which would be highly increased, so i have a question and a suggestion for a new feature:

the question: is there a way to make a plataform use others plataform media ?  I mean let's say i've added all the video snaps at "snes" video folder and i would create a plataform called "snes romset" and can it use the "snes" video snaps from it's folder ?

The suggestion: It would be good if we could choose between 2 collections or "users" at launchbox startup i mean  something like: 1 favorite or personal, and 2 the complete collectons or any custom name, i mean the games shown at launchbox are inside the xml files which it reads and then generate the lists of plataforms and games at every startup right ? then it would be just a matter of the software creating diferent files for diferent users (collections), and could be also a option to add the games just to one user or all of them...

There aren't any such thing as a "mame bios" as such. There are system bios like for consoles.

Any bios that a mame rom needs (such as NeoGeo) goes in the folder with the roms themselves.

i understand so i do not need to move my "mame" roms folder to make them work with mame core in retroarch right ? Well now i do not know what i did it wrong....

Merged sets have way less files but they also have way less flexibility when it comes to using the clones in LB

i don't really understand this thing of merged or not sets..

it weird because i can open the 2 players version of sunset riders in mame, but can not choose in launchbox....

I guess i will try to find just this game with a diferent version, my mame set is just 4,4gb diferent from a 1.80 romset which is between 30gb and 50gb, (is this really necessary ?) haha

i also have problem with the cps3 games i can open them in mame but not in launchbox...

  7. I've downloaded this new core, and changed the emulator from mame to retroarch and configured the plataform to launch the core properly,  but it is not working for me the game does not boot just closes right away, do i have to put the mame bios inside the system folder under retroarch ? or something else ?

Do the versions have two separate ROMs and do you have a split set? If your MAME set is a merged set then I have no clue how you go about getting it to work if you have the split set you can probably go to edit for the game and click browse after looking at the name of the 4player ROM then look for one with an almost identical name and change the one you are using to that one.

i have one ssriders.zip file, and there are a lots of files inside of it but i can't choose one of them when i am editing the location of the rom in LB,  i thought that those files inside are the versions of the game, am i wrong ?

  9. Hey guys i am needing some help, I want to change the version of a arcade games  (sunset riders) launchbox added a 4 player version of this game which i do not like because i can not choose between the character, and i do not plan to play with more than 2 controlers anyways, how can i change to the 2 players version of this game ?

  10. Well lately i got a ott box or Android TV box or anything You would Like to call it :D And i would really like to use launchbox frontend on it, but unfortunatelly it is not There yet, so i have found this app called retroboxtv, which is interesting to use with Android TV boxes, And i saw somethings that i would love to see in bigbox like:

    1. Pause screen which for me is very important specially If you are using bigbox with a controller (which i guess it is the purpose of it) so you can save And Load States direct from gamepad wothout have to leave the couch xD

    2. It automatic download the emulator files (which i guess it is retroarch) And set everything up by itself.

3.It even have a kind of cloud where you can store your saves And use it on other devices from There.

    4. Just to make myself clear I am not saying it is better than launchbox at all (they are even at diferent OS) this is Just something i would like to see in launchbox, and I wish we had a Android version of launchbox/bigbox, so i would use it for sure, because it is my favorite frontend.:)

Yeah I think you will have to do it on a game by game basis but fortunately it is just once per game. I was not able to figure out how to have it for all games in one step.

Edit: If you prefer to use Mame for NeoGeo and want to use the UniBios open your mame.ini file and look for the line "bios", there should be nothing to the right. Change this line to:

    bios                      unibios30

Or if you have version 3.1 - unibios31.

You access the UniBios menu the same way as with FBA, pressing A+B+C together. But you will also need to adjust the actual settings on a game by game basis.

Well i just an idea to make this simply don't know if this will work, but is worth to try, if delete we all the other files and only left the unibios or the actual AES bios inside the neo.zip maybe it will work automatic, what do you think ? Do you know which one of those files in the neogeo.zip is the AES bios ?

    fbalpha_libretro.dll

Just one more thing if i am using a xbox 360 controller with retroarch which buttons should be pressed to be the A+B+C ?

okay i managed this it will A+B+X

The actual UniBios file should be inside your neogeo.zip bios file and that file goes in the same folder as your NeoGeo roms. Here's a screenshot of the inside of my neogeo.zip, though yours may be a bit different, but you should have at least UniBios version 3.0 or maybe even 3.1.2016-12-16 21_26_41-2xExplorer Z1 - H__Emulation_Roms_Neo Geo_neogeo.zip.jpgThe way you actually setup your UniBios in Retroarch though is with game loaded bring up the RA quick menu and go into the core options. In there for Bios select Unibios and then a littel further down you can select specific version of Unibios if it detects you have multiple versions. Exit out and restart your game, if everything went well you should now see a different boot screen telling you that it is UniBios. At this screen if you press A+B+C buttons all all the same time it will take you into the UniBios config and in here you can set your region and whether or not it is the console or arcade version of the game.

so there is not an way  to make it already start in "console mode" ?

i mean withou having to press A+B+C every time i launch the game ?

I won't comment on the stand alone version of FBA but in the Retroarch FBA core you can set it to use the UniBios in the core options. In Mame or Mess if you edit the mame.ini file to make it use them, unfortunately I forget how to do it but I did do it once before.

Using the Retroarch FBA core is your best bet.

thank you i will try it, so  should i put the unibios file .zip or should i extract and put the .rom inside the retroarch's "system" folder ?

And also which core should i use ? Because there are more than one FBA cores...

  15. So i want to add the neo geo home version or AES at launchbox i have watched the video: Arcade Part 4 - Neo Geo and Neo Geo CD - LaunchBox Tutorial

but i did not understand how to make the neo geo roms act as a home console, can i use Final burn alpha or do i must to use mess ? can i use the .zip roms instead or look for the .bin ?

i know i need the unibios, but i do know what to do with, so please help :D
