I would like to switch some of my roms over to the mame software list. One of the systems I'm trying to use is WonderSwan Color. The mame software list roms are zipped in .bin format. When I try to run retroarch it does not suggest the (beetle cygin) core. If i extract the .bin file and change the extension to .wsc, and run retroarch it will suggest the core. Is there any way to tell the core to allow .bin files?

I have WoW Action Max, ALG, and other Singe games working in LB, through Rocket Launcher. If you are using Rocket Launcher, you have to import the .singe file as your rom file in Launch Box.

Thanks guys. UGG.... I imported the full Mame rom set. That means that I have to manually rename each additional app. That's like thousands of clone names to rename. Why did they change the way additional apps are named? It used to automatically have the name there.
-
Thanks Retro, I'm talking about Alternate Names. For example this is 10-Yard Fight. One of the clone names is supposed to be 10-Yard '85. In previous versions of LB it would say "Play 10-Yard '85 (US, Taito license) Version..." The additional name would already be in the additional app name. Now it just has the version only. If you edit 10-Yard Fight there is a section for Alternate names. It contains 10-Yard Fight '85 there, but it doesn't display it anywhere. It was nice being able to see the clone name when you right click the game. You were able to see which version you wanted to try. Now if i want to have the different clone names i will have to manually change the additional apps name. Is there any way to put the additional name back into the additional app name?

Is there any way to change the way Alternate Names works? You used to be able to right click on a system, and it would say |Play "alternate name" (version) Version...| now it just says |Play (version) Version...| is there any way to have it display the alternate name? It seems pointless if you cant tell what alternate name of the game is without having to edit the game to see the tab.

Thanks, I did have a usb mouse plugged in. I think it might have something to do with the Nvidia drivers. I reinstalled the system, and tried Daphne before updating anything and it worked. I have the Nvida control panel, but i have not tried the gforce experience yet, or updating video drivers through it. I currently have all drivers updated through windows update only, and it is still working.

I have had no issues with Daphne in the past, but i just recently upgraded my computer. Now when I try to play a game i get the following error. Could not initialize video display: Directinput:: CreateDevice: Device not registered My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

thanks sundogak, Using mame import did work, and installed all the missing games. I'm just not sure why individually adding roms is not working. I scanned the xml file and it isn't there so I don't think it is the duplicate rom issue. Next time i will try the drag and drop and see if that works.

I am trying to add a few of the games from the latest Mame update. I right click in the games menu, click add. I fill out the rom path, game name, and click ok, but the game does not get added. Im not getting any error, It just doesn't seem to do anything. I am able to add child games, but any new parent does not seem to work. This just started happening since Mame .220. Adding individual games used to work, and i have not changed anything. These are the games that I tried to add. Air Walkers Gulun.Pa! (Japan 931220 L) (prototype) Master's Fury Pro Tennis (Japan) Scorpion DX Speed Race (Seletron / Olympia) Any idea why it is not adding new games?

I have a weird issue with Clrmamepro. I have my Nesica games extracted. When i run a scan everything is fine and does not show any errors. I zipped and 7z my games, and when i run a scan it now finds a few errors. For example it says that one of the folders is named wrong. When the game is extracted /bin is fine. when it is zipped or 7z. it wants it named /Bin. Shouldn't it be the same zipped or extracted? Why is it different?

Mame Checker View File This program will compare your LaunchBox database to Mame. You can see what games have been added, renamed, or removed from Mame since the last version. I created this program because I was having trouble with LaunchBox importing roms after each new version of Mame. I tried using the add new roms button in LaunchBox, and when i checked each game after I noticed a lot of games did not get imported correctly, and I was not sure if all games were added or not. This tool is designed to be used with a full mame set, but I guess it could be used on an incomplete set too. You will need to create an XML list from Mame, and have a catver.ini file. This program works on a combined database. I am not sure if this will work if all your child roms are separated. Your additional applications must be in the default combined name. (ie: "Play Red Hawk (horizontal, Greece) Version...") if you do not have the Version with 3 . it will show missing. Also in a parent game Make sure you have the version of the game in the version field of launchbox. Anything in () is the version. If a game does not have a version that is fine. Everything is case and space sensitive. How to use Mame Check: 1. Make a copy of your LaunchBox database for mame in your Launchbox\Data\Platforms folder WARNING! While testing this i did get duplicate entries in my Launchbox database. I'm not sure how this happened as I don't know how to write to XML yet. I think what happened is I had the arcade.xml file loaded in Notepad++, and after LaunchBox updated the list, notepad interfered with it. PLEASE backup your Arcade xml file first just to be safe. 2. Open command prompt go to your mame folder type mame64.exe -listxml >213.xml 3. go to http://www.progettosnaps.net/catver/ click on download catlist, catver & genre extract catver.ini to your mame folder (NOTE: a new catver.ini file is not always available as soon as a new mame version. You might have to wait a few days for a new one!) 4. launch Mame/Launchbox checker loading the xml files can be done in any order. 5. click browse button for Mamelist XML location choose your xml file from mame folder 6. click browse button for Launchbox xml location choose Arcade.xml or Mame.xml file from your Launchbox\Data\Platforms folder (NOTE: It is the name of the platform you are using) 7.Click browse button for Catver.ini location choose catver.ini file from your mame folder and wait for a few minutes while it builds the mame filter. It can take up to 5 minutes or more! 8. You can hide genres from either launchbox or Mame it is better to hide from mame! Put a check box next to the generas you want to hide 9. Click Search button at the bottom. Program will show not responding, and icon will turn to loading icon while it is building the list. Grab a drink or play some games... this will take a while! It takes about 5 minutes or so on my slowish computer. you can copy the name from the cell by clicking the cell and pressing ctrl + c. then you can paste it into Launchbox game information. In this screen shot I am hiding all of the Whac-AMole games, and Utilities. There are actually more generas that are checked if you scroll up in the mame filter. The green Fields are what the games are labeled as in Mame. The yellow fields are games that are incorrect in LaunchBox. The red fields are games that are missing from launchbox. I list the rom that mame is expecting next to each name as sometimes mame changes the rom names. You can see if your parent or clone is incorrect. Here is a matching Launchbox database compared to what Mame has. Games listed in this salmon color have either been removed from Mame, or do not have the same genera as what Catver.ini have. Clones that have different genera than their parent will be listed here. The games listed in this screen shot will always be listed as they are mature clones of their parents or are test versions of the roms. I am new to programming, and this is my first program. It is not the prettiest program, and needs to be optimized better. But it is functional. Hopefully it helps some of you. To Do: 1. fix auto formating and stretching of the screens. 2. add duplicate removing functionality. 3. add auto backup of platform xml file. I am happy to share my source if anyone wants to improve this, or see what the program is doing. Submitter maabus Submitted 09/12/2019 Category Third-party Apps and Plugins

Question about importing, updating and combining Mame games
maabus replied to maabus's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks DOS76, The main issue with running the import, is the import is not reliable. When i ran the import the first time there were a lot of games it did not import, then the combining of roms grouped a lot of the games incorrectly. Oh well I guess i'll have to stick with manually checking... I wish there was an easier way. -
Question about importing, updating and combining Mame games
maabus posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I have a few questions about importing, updating, and combining Mame games. I have a full set of Mame roms, and had it import the full set. I did not tell it to block casino or anything. I then had Launchbox combine roms. I went to play a game, and i could not find it. I searched the arcade.xml file and it was not in there. I manually imported it again and then it was there, and I had to manually combine it to the parent. Not a big deal, but then i came across a few other games that were not imported. Some games i would try to manually import, and i enabled force duplicate, but when it said it was completed the game still would not import. Some games i had to try multiple times before they would stick, and others i had to go into additional apps on the parent, and add it there. I created a playlist for "clean arcade games" this is a play list for actual arcade games, and not casino, slots or other random things. Going through this play list i came across arcade games that were not listed. I tracked them down in the xml and they were combined with Slot machines and some of the other random systems, so they got flagged as that type of system. I downloaded MameUI, and compared it to LaunchBox. There are a LOT of games that get grouped together incorrectly or are missing and I had to manually add. By the time i went through the entire list, the new version of Mame came out. I updated my set, told Launchbox to update missing roms. I decided to check against the new MameUI, and some games were imported correctly, and others were missing again. So now if i want to have a full list i have to manually check each game again to see if it is imported into Launchbox correctly again. Am I doing something wrong, or are there some issues with the import/upgrade/combine features of launchbox? Why doesnt LaunchBox use the MameList.xml file that comes with Mame to do sorting? Are there any tools to check what launchbox has listed to what Mame lists? -
Why won't some games import into arcade/mame? I am using arcade platform with mame emulator, and I have unchecked all the filters, and told it to import all versions. It shows the rom and name in the what is going to import window. Then it starts checking for metadata and images/videos, and then says 0 games imported. I know that Us vs.Them is one of the games that will not import. The game works fine in MameUI so i know it's good. Some other games are some VS. games. vs. Platoon vs. Mighty bomb jack vs. Mach rider It appears nvs_ roms do not get imported. The other vs. games work though. There was some other game i came across but i forget the name right now.
