  1. Thanks Austin, I was on your facebook page and saw the progress with the ZX Spectrum. Totally Cool!!! I recently purchased my first Raspberry Pi and look forward to going over your YouTube videos.
  2. Another thing I will point out, If I manage to find an advertisement for a game but no official box front I will try and amalgamate both my theme and the advertisement to give you something a little closer to original. Really it comes to an aesthetic on what would look better. I have done thing a few times in the Commodore 64 set but thought I would draw it to your attention. Also expect interim releases such as # to E, F to J, and so forth as we move towards 1.0. I like doing it this way just in case you guys run across errors. Cheers ~ Now back to binge watching Punisher on Netflix :-)
  3. I have deleted the other thread regarding this project. This thread is better suited for both discussion and progress. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ With the release of my Commodore 64 Media Pack 2.0, at the request of Neil9000 I will be moving on to filling in the gaps for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. So not to discuss this pack any further in my Commodore 64 thread, I will use this forum post to discuss the progress and announce releases for this media pack. Initially I am using an XML file provided by Neil9000 to work on a smaller set within the launch box database before moving onto the larger list. I have included a preview of the themed box front and to the best of my ability I plan on giving it the same amount of attention as I did in my Commodore 64 pack. As I am not as familiar with this computer as I am the Commodore 64, so I welcome any input and/or requests. Cheers Lassiveran --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As with my Commodore 64 Pack - I have included information on the themed box art to facilitate easier time matching box art with your collection. If a Launch-Box Database ID is available I have included it on the Box Art along with the Database ID for World of Spectrum. I took the liberty to create them a icon for representation purposes. The Top 300 Logo is kudos to Neil9000 collection of his Top 300 games. Feel free in the future to let me know of others so I can visually represent it on The Fan box Cover.
  4. Version 0.1.0

Here is the start of my Sinclair ZX Spectrum Media Pack. On the road to 1.0 I will continue to expand the media with additional Box Fronts. Version 0.1 can be considered a small community set for neil9000 who requested I work on the ZX Spectrum next. I worked off his XML file to Find Original Box Front Art to Replace Art of another system used in Database Find Original Box Front Art to Replace Advertisement Front being used as a Box Front in Database Find a Better Original Box Front then currently used in Database Created a Box Front Reconstructed using another system Box front and changed to represent Spectrum When no Box Front source could be found I utilized my Themed Box Front. As you can see in the picture of my workflow I do take the time to give you the best possible replacement to fill the missing Box Art. The road to 1.0 will have me go through roughly 4600 games from the official list. I am not a professional graphic artist, I have been learning a few tricks as I have been going along to streamline the process. I welcome positive feedback and constructive criticism. After version one is released I do plan on moving onto Themed Clear Logos, and to take any requests to fill a fan favorite box art I may have missed. I appreciate the hard work everyone has done do far making launch box a great aesthetic front end and this is my way of giving back to the community. I look forward to feedback. Cheers Lassiveran

  6. 2.0 has been released. Sorry Darknior, I was scrambling to get this out this weekend as I had planned. Here is your link :-)
  7. 2.0 has been released. It has been a labour of love since back in March 2017 when I announced I would be working on this project. I hope you all enjoy this as much as it has been a pleasure to give back to the community. There will be a small update version 2.1, which will include the bezel I have been working on. Other than that I will support this pack with bug fixes and any additions the community would like to see. I now move on to the Sinclair Spectrum ZX.
  8. I have fond memories of playing the Commodore 64 when I was a kid. Included with 2.0 is a digital representation of one of my favourite games back in the day. This will be included as a wallpaper and I will try and make a Bezel providing I can find a good tutorial. Edit - Anyone know the location of a good tutorial. I thought a simple google search would have pointed me in the right direction but I guess I have to do a little more digging. I have also changed the Keys color to more of a matte look along with adding scanlines to the image. The art is layered to accommodate Game Spine, Screenshot and Poster if the community is more partial to another offering. I don't mind making a few for other nostalgic community members ;-)
  9. My pleasure, I will upload the Commodore 64 2.0 this weekend and move onto the Spectrum. I will do any missing box art for the Top 300 first then push ahead to handle the others.
  10. I will use this image for the Top 300 found in the Launch Box DB providing they are missing Box Art. I have included the DB ID on image for easier reference.
  11. Thanks, if you wouldn't mind sending me the xml, I think I can put it to use.
  12. Sinclair Spectrum ZX - Revision 1, I may tweak it a little then move forward with creating the missing box art. If you have an ini file for the 300 titles, if they are missing box art I can included a variant to differentiate.
  13. I am putting the finishing touches on release 2.0 and should be released this weekend. Moving forward what other platform is lacking in boxart that you would like to see me work on next?
  14. Clear Logos (5190) for the Commodore 64 have been uploading in the download section. Feel free to send any correspondence to info@nerdsmack.com.
  15. Commodore 64 Clear Logos Placeholders View File To compliment my other Commodore 64 work, I have create 5190 placeholder Clear Logos for use in Launchbox. Extract the file into the Images/Commodore 64/Clear Logo/ directory. Do not overwrite any existing files unless you know the files is the wrong Clear Logo for the game in question. I welcome any requests for additional titles you want created and please feel free to bring to my attention any error so I can correct. 17. Coming Soon... Themed Clear Logos for Commodore 64 games missing logos (3200 already created). Happy Thanksgiving to Canadians.
  18. Version 1.9.0 has been released Added 482 Fan Made Box Fronts from # to Z from the Official Set. This includes error corrections with box fronts found in previous versions along with missing entries. Added a 53 Box Fronts to the Text Adventure Subset comprising of 3 types of Fan-Made Box Fronts to represent Generic Text Adventures, Quill Text Adventures and AdventureWriter Text Adventures, 4 replica themed box fronts for The Guild, Free Spirit, CodeWriter, The 8th Day and Atlas Adventure Software. Also includes a few Original Photo Edited and Fan Reconstructed Box Fronts. These additions were done while I was working on the Magazine subset. The Magazine subset which is comprised of approximately 697 magazine themed box fronts has also been finished but I will be releasing with version 2.0. Additional I would like to add any missing box fronts or correct any errors with existing releases. So please feel free to forward me any requests or corrections to info@nerdsmack.com and I will make sure to include them in release 2.0.
  19. Preview of what is coming in 1.9.0 as it has been a couple weeks since version 1.8.0 release. This is the last preview before release honestly. I guess it is my little way of telling you I'm still moving along with the project as summer can be a very busy time. In this preview you will notice some changes to existing covers. Sometimes I can be my own worst critic but I feel the final result is better. Also you will notice in this preview some real box covers. If I happen to find a box cover for another system and not the c64 and it is not too time consuming I will try and change the box to reflect a c64 version. This might not be the exact c64 cover but with none available making a pseudo facsimile I feel is better than my fan made version. Thanks for all the positive comments I have been receiving. I does wonders for giving me the drive to handle a large project like this. Cheers Lassiveran
  20. Another preview of release 1.9.0 that features the Magazine Subset. Fan Box fronts for this subset is now at 15 styles. The Magazine logo I have tried to recreate in vector as close as possible and only with a few exceptions I included raster images within the templates. I am working hard at trying to get this version out as soon as possible but with summer months and spending time with family development is slower than normal.
  21. Preview of what is coming in 1.9.0 as it has been a couple weeks since version 1.8.0 release. Release of 1.9.0 will feature the Magazine Subset. I have created approximately 10 fan box fronts that are designed to symbolize the magazine the game appeared in. This should further provide variety to the 2000+ previous box fronts that have been created. I have included a preview image of 6 for your viewing pleasure. I expect this release out within the next week or so as it took some time to create the templates and that nasty real life workload got in the way.
  22. The XML I am using is for a set of 8,236 roms, 7,904 of which match the CRC of the Official Commodore 64 HyperBase Database 1.0. I use this in conjunction with cross referencing GB64.com. Moving onto 1.9 release, I am working at filling the gaps missing in 1.8. This is a result of an issue on my end where different games of the same name got grouped together in launchbox. I am also going through and taking another look at my front end collection and either a) Luckingly locating an original box front end b) Fixing errors with my current Fan-made front end or Original Box front end So I will definitely work towards aligning my set up with Underwoods DB I also welcome anyone to send me a message if you notice any errors.
  23. Version 1.8.0 has been released Added 134 Fan Made Box Fronts from W to Z from the Official Set. Added a Text Adventure Subset featuring 243 Box Front comprised of 3 types of Fan-Made Box Fronts to represent Generic Text Adventures, Quill Text Adventures and AdventureWriter Text Adventures, 5 replica themed box fronts for The Guild, Free Spirit, CodeWriter, The 8th Day and Atlas Adventure Software. Also includes a few Original Photo Edited and Fan Reconstructed Box Fronts. I've included a Generic Text Adventures Box Front for each of the Replica Themed in case you would rather use that one.
  24. Version 1.7.0 has been released Added 657 Fan Made Box Fronts from R to V from the Official Set.
  25. One the more pleasant aspects of this project is the flashbacks I have every once in awhile when I run across a title I had totally forgotten about from my youth. Like a dusty neuron firing. lol
