While I fully respect and admire the work that's gone into this... I have to say this made me take a second look.... The entire premise behind this software is displaying your games in a beautiful interface. If I buy a car I would expect the car to run.. if I put gas in my car and it slowed and sputtered every block I would have issue that the car isn't doing what a car is supposed to do. That would literally go for anything else I chose to invest money in and i imagine anyone else in here wold feel the same.. There were other products of course but the blood sweat and tears that I saw Jason Carr put into this software made me want to support his project. I just tried once again to play using BigBox and the studders between games make it feel like using powerpoint sometimes... It's already a good product in terms of catolguing my games. Does it have roome to grow in terms of speed and capabilkities? Sure.. but it's not broken in those areas. When you have a piece of software whose main selling point is presenting/launching your games in a beautiful manner, the last thing you want is to also do it in a manner that reminds folks of the days they used to try and embed videos in powerpoint presentations. Sometimes it's that bad. Meaning no disrespect to anyone, I've done dev work before so I understand how trying and difficult it can be.... but why would you ever ask folks to go ahead and move to other software? What good is enhancing any other part of this software if it's only doing half of what it's supposed to without issues? Why keep adding to the part that's not broken, making the base that's in need of changing even more difficult if new code keeps being introduced that is dependent on the parts that need to be changed (at least that's the impression I got from the comment)? I do in fact use other launchers on my linux machines and my sons Windows machine (simply becasue he just needs something basic).... The thought of having to redo my whole library over again for some other product is... ugh...... This is how people get salty on a product and how all the hard work folks put into sellling it gets ultimately wasted.... Here's praying something evolves that makes BigBox just as snappy as it's cousins.... 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Hope everyone had a Wonderful Christmas and a soon to come even better NewYears!! 😎😁🍻

Same thing. I always disable the android app feature, I use it specifically for my retro games and don't want any android apps. That's when i assumed something else was going on, every time I start the app that error pops up. I confirmed a couple times that it shouldn't be parsing or showing anything android, just the specific game folder.... Thankfully, it doesn't keep launchbox from working.

I turned off android games, every option there was as I don't have any android games installed (this is on the quest 3, sideloaded). Everything else works fine. Just this constant error on bootup that it can't parse my android games. A Java.Lang.Illegal.Argument.Exception. Every bootup, i can close it and it runs fine as far as i can tell.. it just seems to want to look for android games no matter that i told it not to.

Sounds Good Yeah, happening with 5200 and 7800.. I guess Manual it is lol 😎 Thank you so much! Have a great upcoming weekend! 😎🙏😁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Installing some roms... It's been a while since I have.. quite a while lol.. I notice not I get prompted to install Retroarch OR Manually configure it.... I'm confused here. If my Launchbox is already using Retroarch for other emulators.. why does it now give you the option to install it again? Is this literally installing it for EVERY emulator? If it does, does it overwrite prior configurations? How badly am I messing up my already configured Retroarch setup if I choose this option... I would assume the option *Let Retroarch handle it* if it's already installed to be the option.. not installing it? or am I misunderstanding here. I'm going to hold back importing till I get an answer, I prefer to let Retroarch handle things if there is already a soft standard of some kind that just works with it. This whole "Install" or do it yourself is a bit offputting 😎🤔🤔🤔💩 note: I did choose the install option and it DOES start to download and install it. I canceled at that pooint. Just had to make sure.

I guess that's a hard No lol. At least allowing us to use a "wildcard".. a simple asterisk for god's sake. Anyone that's done the simplest of searches knows what a wildcard is. Using C-Beats example.. Platform - Has None of the Values - Arcade; LaserDisc in this case I'd want to use it on the title to fiilter out College Sports Games and Soccer Games... Title - Has None of the Values - *NCAA *; * College Football *; * Soccer *; * FIFA * Boom. More helpfull if we could use double quotes in there as well. just my 2 cents 😎🙏 Ya'll have a wonderful upcoming weekend 😎💯

auto populate star rating seems completely off
adam1972 replied to adam1972's topic in Troubleshooting
Thank you!.. I keep forgetting that. I'll play with it, see if I can get something useful out of it... 😎💯 -
Hello 😎 I'm in a situation where I've imported a bunch of Amiga games and I want to sort out the low star rated games. I have an Auto-Populate list and I've set it for "Commodore Amiga" and "Star Ratings" that are "LESS than 2". I randomly start to check them and lo and behold... It scares me to use these filters to streamline the games..... Is there an alternative method other than trusting these? (These stars have never been changed/altered by me).

I can't get a single core to work from Launchbox on my android Oneplus 7 for Arcade (Mame) games. I can go to Retroarch and load the mame or FBNeo core and the game (in this case 1942) and it loads right up. If I use Launchbox it just gives me a black screen. Other cores (tried TG16 and lynx) with no issues. Anyone ever see this? Anyone have any pointers?

New seperate Plattform | Only for Light Gun Games. How can i do this?
adam1972 replied to TJ_on_Launchbox's topic in Noobs
Thank you for that. I just downloaded a xml file on the boards that a nice guy went to the trouble of creating. I never use the full set importer, way too many games that never seem to get filtered through. I curate them before hand and eliminate certain game types. The light gun support.. I totally forgot about that option! I tried it on everything and it works.. kinda.. Looks like Area51 doesn't show up! (haven't checked what others lol) and apparently games like Lemmings on the SNES had light gun support as an easter egg hehehe... Still better than where I know I was before Appreciated -

adam1972 replied to TJ_on_Launchbox's topic in Noobs
It works.. It doesn't seem that the games are actually curated to the point where they show up as light gun games. You seem to have to go through and manually add each one into the "gun" section. I believe they are (mostly) set to "Shooter" which encompasses a HOOOGE amount of Galaga type games. -
Launchbox works on the Oculus Quest 2 (retroarch64 sideloaded).. up until it launches... The game starts you can play it blindly (you can hear the sounds and all that).. but the screen never leaves the 3 white dots. Oh well jejeje

Thank you @sundogak! I can at the very least look for those terms and find the games that have those racial political opinions added to them. @Lordmonkus, I don't understand how stating that one wishes to "search the game database for specific terms (in my case terms in game info scraped from mobygames that aren't even from the original dev)" to be vague at all. So without the knowledge if which games have the scraped info I am unable to edit or request to make any changes until someone plays the game and finds it by accident. I also don't presume that it was made with malicious intent. Yet I also (literally on a daily basis) find the current state of racial politics to be nauseating to the extreme, especially against Caucasians. That's something I come to gaming to get away from. I don't go looking for brown people in my games (nor do I teach my children to) because I'm Mexican. Unfortunately most of these public databases are susceptible to carrying racial opinions that I would rather not have introduced into a hobby that is better off without it. The fact that devs from back in the day took pictures of folks around the office is a good thing. When I worked at Microprose in Alameda CA. back in the 90's they went around and asked for volunteers to have their pics taken for Falcon pilots. The last thing I want to see is someone at Mobygames point out that the majority of characters are white as if it's a bad thing. That shouldn't matter in any game. So the Moby editors are pointing out that only whites are represented is either a good thing or bad thing.. BUT why should it matter? Sorry if I sound aggressive about it, I don't mean to come off that way, I just detest race getting brought into things that should have absolutely nothing to do with it. I never met a dev that went into making a game with any racial intent and so would like to find a way to find that content and remove it before it ruins a good time gaming with someone's racial views.
-
I mean pre-emptively searching.. for example "representing white people " so I can just delete any racial references/opinions from popping up. I just want the game info.. not really wanting to have to deal with racial/political/societal opinions/content when someone goes to play a game..
-
Is there a way to search the db so I can modify and save to my LB?
-
Is there a way to search and get rid of racist crud like this before someone sees it on my system? 😣😳😵🤔
-
Just caught this beauty while showing my young son Mike Read's Computer Pop Quiz... Does it really matter what race is represented? What color? Is that a factor in what I should be placing as a value of some kind when looking up game info? I would've imagined this would've been the last thing anyone would care about when just trying to play a quiz game... I know I'd be offended if it said (all representing brown/mexican people) as if has any bearing on anything... c'mon now lol

I ended up using https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/Window-Focus-Logger.shtml#download Windows Focus Logger runs in the background for a specified amount of time and monitors to see what exactly is stealing focus. Mine was Chrome. Even when I didn't have it running it still had processes running. Uninstalled it and no more stealing

hehehe.. You ever try something several times.... You swear to god allmighty that it's NOT there.. drive yourself nuts and you can't get it to work. I swear I tried no less than 5 times since yesterday... Worked on a PowerShell script to compare the files in the arcade folder and remove the ones that matched the same ones in the NeoGeo folder... Got that working then this.... My brain didn't see the Arcade listing in that drop down.. UGH.... Talk about feeling like a dummy lol... THANK YOU hahahahaha
-
There's only the full rom set import. I cleaned up my 0.22 set and took out all the neoGeo roms. By doing the full rom set it creates listings for games I don't have in Arcade (as well as wanting to download the media).. Any way to just import what I have?
-
For example.. I want to make a playlist for my Android.. Since it's the first Arcade game on the list I figured it'd be the best way to explain. So I left it's info on the background since I am unable to interact with it after the filter is open.. Those 2 filters only remove the Shooter / Guns and Sports / Basketball Results.. It doesn't seem to be working for one.... as well as I want to add more fields to the filter As I filter them out.. where can I get more of the pertinent info on a random game that I can use in the filter auto populator (genre in this example) as I whittle down the games further.. WITHOUT closing the editor..
-
Thank you Yea, I'm on the Beta. It's not being able to retrieve information to help create the list in real time.. Yes, you can see the real time "results", but you can't act on them to further streamline the list unless you happen to have knowledge about whatever "genre" (for example) is assigned to any particular game ahead of time.. some have multiple. So those "filter selections" are entirely limited by your knowledge of the particulars from these games. You can't interact with them to look up further info to help create the filter (that I am able to find at least) .
-
Is it possible to edit/create a list without getting stuck in the playlist window? While I'm trying to create a playlist it becomes overtly apparent that I don't have every Field and Value memorized and I stare blankly at the screen trying to recall any of them. Is there a way to open one to edit it and also be able to interact with the lists and games? To be able to double check without having to close out the new list, go to the games and look up the info and head back to the list to reopen and edit?
-
How about removing duplicates? I reimported because it was missing some games, I recalled seeing a duplicate option in the import... Now several games have duplicates (some don't)... Is there a way to remove them?
