  1. Glad there's interest in this, yes the files are from the 8tb hyperspin build, Im catching up on projects lately I'll have this one knocked out soon enough .

Thanks for the tips I would'nt have thought to use gzdoom as the emulator- pretty clever.

I did a Wolfenstein 3d pack awhile ago so  figured DOOM was next.

Lots of free time these days I'll be hunting down every Doom mod I can gathering artwork making snaps etc ?

  2. I went the budget route with 4x Seagate 8tb Expansion drives (usually $119 on sale)  and a 2tb Toshiba 7200 internal for LB,

I game/edit on a smaller custom build on my SSD only plugging in my externals when needed as to extend their lifetimes-

until they are replaced with higher capacity cheaper drives coming in a few years. Load times are tolerable and should improve

once shucked and installed internally ( Im replacing my 2tb hard drive with a 2tb m.2 soon , shucking all drives and adding a final 5th 8tb).

Some WD drives require adapters if shucked so research before you buy.

A lot of times Ive found the contacts found on the pcb are corroded and can be cleaned with a pencil eraser I've revived a half dozen drives -

especially external drives , if you don't have the special screwdriver bits you can lay a rubber band over the screwheads and wedge in a philips head

to get them loose. Vids on youtube ..." hard drive eraser trick "

  3. Make a Coinops platform with shortcuts to each Coinops packs.

Snag up a random rom file and run the usual import rom file option but name the platform CoinOps

Drag n Drop your Coinops shortcuts into this platform and delete the dummy rom file you used to get the platform started.

Updating my Coinops platform and sharing it with everyone is a near future priority so keep posted ..

  4. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish but it seems a bit unneccessary

Delete all but the Atari St games , rename  "Games" to Atari ST and put this folder in your Launchbox/Games Folder

Move that unzipped Atari ST images folder I shared to Launchbox/Images

Move this xml file to Launchbox/Data/Platforms Atari ST.xml

all that's left is to add an emulator - there's video tutorials on you tube for that

I use Hatari and the Retroarch hatari librettro core

    :)

I googled the 55 platforms I didn't have or ever hear about and only 4 really had any promise for importing - the rest were chinese clones, kid toys , vhs based games and canceled/failed projects.

I'm assuming most are dumps with no emulators - Unisonic Champion 2711, Sega - Beena, Zeebo and Benesse - Pocket Challenge W , there were a couple other albeit smallish sets

that might hold some promise , I'll revisit this later.  Came across this post listing what systems have no emulator although its a bit dated it should help people know what to avoid if they so wish.

  5. Consoles and computers killed the arcades plus 50 cents to a dollar to play - forget that.

I would suggest throwing a party at Chuck E Cheese - they let you play all the games no quarters needed.

That pinball place looks awesome too. I would tell Jack Black about it he'd probably go there and film for his Youtube Channel

  6. Love to get that 12gb set Zombeaver ,

I have (25gb worth) 1000 maps  2000 characters downloaded but not all the ones I added worked so I gave up

and just stuck with 150 Premade titles I can share all the media if anyone wants it however the games add up to a whopping 125gb

  7. I do try to combine duped stuff so when you right click on a game you get all the revisions etc,,  so they exist without being counted , haven't gotten everything sorted out on some platforms yet, by no means is this complete

             *story time*

A few years back I had a normal ho hum 60 k of titles nothing special really it was chock full of holes artwise...

then I saw a youtube video of this guys collection it was nothing special other than he deleted all the games missing artwork and it looked awesome!

I knew I had to have it for myself and tickled with the idea of collecting everything just for kicks, So two years later I got to 100 thousand games with all box fronts done, silly me -

    I thought I was done ,

then I kept finding more and more games and the number just kept growing , admittedly some is fluffery and not everything is completely roms I do have some video sets, gaming

    magazines and other random stuff.

In conclusion I'll say anyone stubborn and determined enough can do this , I won't hold this thread hostage anymore -PM for any other questions /tips you might need , thanks

  8. Nothing really backed up , some stuff on the cloud mostly relying on friends and family builds I've done,

I usually keep and plan to clone my 2tb LB drive again as that's really the most important thing.

I'm still in the adding and editing stage really and most of the time I keep everything sitting cold only plugging in what's needed

my end goal is to get a fifth 8tb and shuck the externals and replace my LB drive with a 2tb nvme, accepting all donations ?

  9. 4 x8tb external Seagates

    2x3tb 5x2b

2x1 tb in projects and games havent added

plus a few loose drives here and there

no nas just plain old internal and external drives

I started out on a few 2tb  drives then got some 3's and finally over the past two years the 8tbs

thousands of hours doing box fronts (for that complete look) only 20k left in my build

if you need anything for your build lemme know

Also ps4 and xbox one, and many switch, xbox 360 and xbox games do not play yet with emulators...curious what the playable total roms are if you have that worked out.

I looked the numbers up before 250k was If I remember correctly roughly the number I came up with , add in all your other online services too and its maybe 10 to 20k more -

I've been pretty vigilant in nearly 4 years of hunting games I rarely come across new platforms.

Not only English? Dupes versions? Betas, etc..?

30k steam? Wtf, do you own the company?

What is the total drive size holding all this?

Launchbox 2020    look for yourself also platform art in Images/Platforms for everything included 3.1 gb dl

Google "how many games does steam have" 30k is the answer at least from awhile back Praise Gaben!!

I'm around 50tb of total space and condensing and removing drives since my 8tb #4 arrived yesterday so the actual collection size will be a little less than that

  12. I'd leave the cabinet alone and get a tv , a pc and some controllers, spend a little on a swiveling wall mount for the tv too

Ive used Launchbox vertically it looks really cool although you'll be limited to vertical games  hence a swivel mount suggestion

It's relatively easy to import hyperspin art vids and games all have their own folders and the file structure is pretty simple in LB

I would recommend downloading current emulators and using LB tutorials for setting them up.

Message me for some other goodies and  info.

Snappy and Launchbox is a contradiction in terms ?

It actually runs decent on a solid state drive - I keep a scratch build for projects with about 40k of games on average

It's a must have for editing work , just copy all your art & xmls from one build to the other when you're done.

I wouldn't rely on older versions as you'd be missing out on new features and fixes.
