  1. Depends how your NAS is setup I guess...on my main comp I have 6 drives and each of those drives get backed up my LB comp is in essence my “NAS” as it serves as my Plex and audio server as well although if I have a plugged in external it will back that up as well so I guess it just depends on the way you have your NAS integrated....if it’s a traditional NAS setup I can’t speak on that directly as my “nas” is set up as traditional drives within my system each assigned a specific letter within my system.
  2. Just go with normal backnlaze it will back up all connected and external HDDs cost 5 per month unlimited and encrypted why go the other route at 5 per Tb?
  3. I’m the same way I purchased the 2 extra 8tb drives initially to back up my LB stuff however I purchased another 2 8tb drives to back up all my Plex media as well I figure every time I need to increase my space I will just budget for 2 HDs to ensure I have a physical backup on hand at all times. As a final back up should that external drive be corrupted for whatever reason I have everything backing up encrypted to backblaze as well to use in a pinch
  4. I can agree with that...but I think we’re talking 2 separate trains of thought....those who want to curate and ensure complete preservation of full galleries vs those who want a nice collection to play and have fun with....eventually as we begin building our systems we fall into either side of that camp however at the end of the day it’s about playing and enjoying and therefore to me getting a complete set importing and playing is the key and as time goes on if I decide to curate I can however once you import enough full sets of systems you have more than is humanly possible to play....I did the math at 1 game a day it would take me 49 years to play my system start to finish...so in my head I ask myself why curate any further? But I don’t knock the boys who do especially the ones that torrent their curated sets :-)))
  5. What’s up man! Your not bothering at all...honestly I am still going through the build process and tweaking a bunch of stuff...initially I had a final burn set imported due to size then went with a full MAME set including CHDs and haven’t removed FBA yet thanks for the catch on that though! As for Naomi I did scrub my MAME setup to remove the Naomi games. MAME itself is a tricky animal to scrub and clean and separate per system...although with the new LB/BB 8.6 update I’m probably going to remove my arcade set completely update MAME and get the new rom pack and import again using the new features. As for other systems, there would be a significant time investment to scrub all duplicates from every system as the same game may have released on multiple platforms and some have different features or playability styles so you may have 5 duplicates of a game spanning multiple systems but without playing through each version you wouldn’t know which one to keep. Therefore your numbers will be inflated by 5 technically.
  6. I thought the same thing however, after researching back blaze and going through the signup process they do allow you to encrypt your upload with a encryption key that only you as the user know. They state explicitly that if you lose the key your data is completely lost as it is encrypted and there is nothing they can do to help you. With that being said I feel confident in the fact that my data is encrypted on their servers and therefore there would be nothing to turn in as they wouldn't be able to tell what it is. Same thing as using a seedbox for torrents and SFTP transfers that are encrypted downloads from the file server. Once you go SFTP the data is downloaded encrypted and then unpacked on your end once the transfer is complete.
  7. Yeah I watched that video for their petabyte project that makes sense but the only reason they did the spread like that was due to 750GB daily upload caps per user from google. There is no way my internet speed here in Cuba will support 750 per day for a single user. based on my speeds only about 160-200gb daily upload so when factoring pricing and the ability to encrypt my backups back blaze would actually be cheaper monthly for me at 5 per month. My LB build is also my Plex server in total I have 20TB of data I want to store and I want to store it encrypted for obvious reasons. Also I have read some reddit posts of people having issues with amazon and Plex backups due to legality issues...which I obviously don't want to run into...I do love me some Linus though!
  8. Question for both of you guys:...I just signed up for back blaze to begin my 3 month upload journey...However, do you guys do your uploads encrypted? If you do them encrypted does that encryption apply to any and all data that is uploaded at that specific time or as it auto uploads your changes does it fall under the same initial encryption? Just thinking about the legality of roms, I figured I would go encrypted for obvious reasons...just want to make sure that as It does auto uploads of the changes that it will remain under 1 encryption key?
  9. I'm still really curious about SCUMM VM or even Exodos/Win3xO I'm guessing for these keyboard and mouse will be a necessity. I'm really debating if I want to add these to my system as I really don't want a cluttered build where I have to find a space to set a keyboard and mouse to play these games...my controller surface will already tied up with space I just feel adding a KB and mouse will make it over cluttered. Honestly I never really played a lot of scummvm or dos stuff growing up as I was always a console gamer starting with the OG NES. so it won't hurt me too much to remove these or not add them from my build in an effort for more efficiency.
  10. Question on your setup... With the may flash...is that working with dolphin 5.0? I was checking out how to set it all up and I thought Simply Austin mentioned they didn't work with dolphin 5.0 (I could be wrong though) Also, I did watch another video where a guy said there was some input lag with the controllers in dolphin but they worked...do you notice any lag and or is there a way to adjust the sensitivity within dolphin for the bar like you could on the original wii?
  11. Yeah, but with the operations for LB as a whole you need to go overboard like that it makes perfect sense...I'm just now learning how to program myself for iOS as a side project and should I eventually get decent at that and decide to actually program anything I will be just as anal with my backups. Having owned a business before I was a records hoarder as well having multiple copies of stuff just in case. however, I have never set up a raid array before. Currently I made some changes and now I'm using 2 - 8TB drives however both of them are WD Reds I figured I would spend the money to ensure less likely HD failure. I was just looking at Backblaze I think I am going to go with that as well as my personal external HD mentioned in my comment above. I'm currently in Guantanamo Bay Cuba working as a civilian for the US Navy down here so our internet isn't the best in the world I did the test on Backblaze and it said I could expect around 161GB daily upload therefore it would take by my estimates, 90-120 days depending on actual speed and downtime. However, it would be nice to have it auto updating and saving as I make changes to my setup.
  12. This was the route I was thinking about taking. Yesterday I decided to add another 8tb drive to setup to house the WII collection and OG Xbox since we seeing some decent progress over there now which now brings be to 14.6 TB useable space. I went ahead and ordered one 8TB external that I was going to use to back up my MAIN LB 8TB drive. When I added the new drive I separated out my collection and put all my obscure and harder to get stuff on the Main drive and and I figure I will back that up to the 8tb external, put it back in the box, and throw it in the closet. Honestly my main drive with all the configs, setup work, and obscure roms, is the one that would highly kill my vibe to lose. I might look into back blaze or something as well to also keep a cloud based backup as well in the future, but for now this made the most sense.
  13. Good info I guess I could have them on the side of my cab and they wouldn't really be a pain in the rear or obnoxious looking. Ill take a look into the mayflash....thanks for the info
  14. So...As I look over my LB build I realize there is no way that I can map everything for all my systems to a standard joystick and buttons. Systems like the PS1 and PS2 needing bumper support and whatnot and since I'm at the point where I'm going to start sourcing parts and building a cab I just realized my cab would potentially have MULTIPLE controllers. While this isn't a bad thing for a single player setup if I do a 2 person setup this can get rather clunky and ugly looking. So I thought I would reach out and see what solutions you guys have undertook to manage your controls while still having your cabinets look and feel functional. This is my thoughts with my build: 2 Lightguns on each side of the cab, 2 joysticks, 7 button setup = this will cover all my mame, FBA, Daphne, Sega Model 2, Sega Naomi, NEO Geo AES, Neo Geo CD 2 Xbox controllers to manage all standard consoles, Atari 7800, atari jaguar, atari lynx, Nintendo 3ds, 64, ds, NES, GB, GBA, GBC, GC, 3D0, PC ENGINE, Sega 32X, CD, Dreamcast, GG, GEN,MS, Saturn, Sony PS1, PS2, PSP, SNES, Turbografx, wonderswan, and wonderswan color 1 trackball for any golden tee games 2 spinners for Atari games pull out keyboard and mouse for any ScummVM games.... This I would really like evaluate and see if there is a better option for...this to me would be clunky and I would only want to pull these out if I need to configure something on the system (maybe use the xbox controllers? What do you guys do for ScummVM) For my build I figure I will have a total of 23 buttons - 14 for player controls, 2 for coin buttons, 2 for 1 and 2 player select, 2 for select and start, 1 button to exit the current emulator and go back to big box, 2 buttons for back and forward through the menu in big box. What about for the WII? are you guys using the actual WII motes for your wii setups? this is a system I have stayed away from just based on the fact it would be ANOTHER controller to add to this setup...What are your thoughts on that?? So to sum it up here are the questions: 1) Does my setup sound too far off base with regards to the systems and the button layout? 2) Does it sound like too many buttons? 3) What do you guys use to control your ScummVM? Is there a better option that using a keyboard and mouse or is this a necessary evil? 4) What do you do for your WII setups? Do you use the WIImotes? How do you play games that require the motion control if your not using the WIImotes? Lastly I have attached a platform list incase you see anything I missed and recommend anything different
  15. With close to 9TB currently dedicated to my LB build currently and the possibility of reaching close to 15TB once completed I began to think to myself just how pissed I would be at my life if these 2 8TB hard drives were to fail. The months of toil I spent building my stuff would be a total waste and I would have to redo every bit of it...therefore I am purchasing another 2 8TB drives to clone my setup and I was wondering....what are you boys/girls doing as far as your redundancy goes should your stuff fail? Do you have a plan in place? Just thought I would see what options people are taking with their builds.
  16. Ok I figured I would throw my stuff out there too ? Currently, with switch progression moving as fast as it is I went ahead and dropped those in there however you can subtract them from the number as technically it is not playable. All systems work, have overlays and look great in big box. However one thing I do want to do as time goes on is remove any games that don't have any form of video snaps, and actually fire up every single individual game to check compatibility and remove those as well...I figure with this many games in my system I could go ahead and scrap the 5% that don't play or have video snaps. Also this is with ALOT of the NFL,NBA,NHL games removed (I'm not a big sports game fan) Eventually I would like to have it where everything in big box is showing box art, video snaps, and is 100% playable. As for hard drives I currently have 1 - 8TB drive that contains all metadata and 90% of my roms currently I only have 200GB available free on that drive and I have another 4TB drive that I am using for "overflow" and I currently have 1.5TB free on that. All total were looking at close to 9TB of stuff. However, I can easily see this expanding by another 4TB or so as switch dumps keep happening and once the original XBOX is finally emulated. At this point, I'm close to wrapping up my 7 months of tinkering and getting ready to physically build my cabinet here soon.
  17. So I don’t know how to specifically do this with command line however what you could do is run a second instance of dolphin...download a second copy of dolphin put it in its own separate folder, add the same system and point the rom path to its own specific folder of Japanese roms...I do this for some systems then you can configure each instance of of the emulator based on your wants and needs for that region or system your trying to emulate....plus it doesn’t require any real space to download another dolphin emulator and you already have all the bios and stuff so just configure and play...pretty easy way to accomplish what your wanting.
  18. Wait i thought the launchbox forums were a judgement free zone? LOL
  19. @Zombeaver i dont know where you are in the world but i owe you a beer, or a coffee, or a cheap hooker if thats your thing... this solved the issue! Using split cores with split cfg files and saving the core settings was not working in the slightest! You just saved my system man!... one last question with this setup though...If i make a change in the main retroarch.cfg file such controller changes or whatever do i need to just copy and repaste and rename the main config file for each system or is there an easier way to go about that?
  20. well now I’m super confused RA is on an external drive so I don’t think even a fresh windows install would cure my issues I got no clue now I’m totally lost Crazy part is I did a complete wipe and fresh install of retroarch so nothing should be left causing it not to work but who knows I just don’t know what would cause it to not pick up the separate cores it’s weird
  21. Thanks man...hopefully he can help next stop would be doing shaders and what not if we can get this all figured out...I’m finally at the point of putting the icing on the cake for my system
  22. yeah im at a total loss with everything i have tried different cores. I tried the single core with 2 config files option again...i dont know what i'm doing wrong or if theres a bug in the system with bezels or what but it sure does suck because i was really looking forward to knocking out bezels on my day off...i might just have to go back to rocketlauncher and try to figure out how to get that to work...although its HIGHLY inconvenient and no where near as polished as RA is in that regard... i just wish i could get this BS figured out man i have it working for everything that doesnt have a duplicate core which obviously is 60% of my setup since they all use the same core lol... GAHHHHHHHHH
  23. Yes, i just turned on advanced settings to check and all 4 are turned to "On"
  24. Yes, i just did it again to double check. I went into GB set the bezel in the quick menu and under the cog menu saved the core backed out went to GBC set the bezel in both places saved the core then went back into GB and i now see the GBC bezel again...i went into core info and see that it is loading up each individual core but for some reason if i change it on one or the other regardless of saving the individual core it goes to the last one i saved. These were created on my last save core override when leaving RA but when i open the CFG files there is nothing inside of them
  25. Yeah either something is jacked up with my RA build or im just a total loser... I deleted retroarch completely and decided you know what maybe i jacked it up too much so i redownloaded and also used the batch editor you provided above and created 2 seperate cores on a fresh install with ONLY the gambatte core downloaded. still no dice...I went to GB and set a overlay then i backed out and went to GBC and set the GBC overlay...went back to GB and the GBC color overlay was on there as well. Here is what i have:
