Finally got this to work! Even though this little thing only had four games for it, I love it. I have wanted to get it working in Retroarch for some time now just to have the overlay of the unit.

Thank you for that info. I manually edited my cfg to MACHINE_TYPE=Atari 5200 and I added the header info to my zipped ROM, I tried it zipped and unzipped with the zip and actual ROM file with header info but no go unfortunately. This still is a puzzle for me but I will come back to it in between other stuff I am doing on my set up, thanks again.

I uninstalled everything, everything being RA, LB, controller drivers etc and everything is working fine now. There was something funky on my setup somewhere but I did not figure out where it is. I only have one question now regarding saving controller inputs, where exactly does it save to? Just for my own curiosity, thanks.
-
Yeah I have tried it with about ten different roms, thank you for the suggestion though, I appreciate it.

I hit F1 to bring up the menu, then I went to System Settings and the first option is Machine. I changed that from 800 to 5200 however it did not change anything. I did not do anything regarding resolution or controller settings because at this stage I still cannot get past the menu into a game. I would like it working of course though it is not something like the NES or Arcade where I would be devastated to not have it.

Haha, we are all stubborn in certain ways. My stubbornness keeps me restricted to RA and MAME even if there is something superior out there for a particular platform. I am going to try what you just said if not today then definitely tomorrow and I will report back on the results, thank you.
-
I did read about people suggesting the standalone. I know some standalone emulators are easy to setup and superior but for simplicity I am sticking to RA and MAME. Whatever does not work outside of those two gets forgotten on my setup. I appreciate you suggesting something that may have been the issue though, thanks kindly.

Thank you for replying. I do have my bios files in the RA system folder and the cfg file is pointing to them: Atari 800 Emulator, Version 3.1.0 ROM_OS_A_PAL=C:\Users\Dane\LaunchBox\Emulators\RetroArch\system\ATARIOSA.ROM ROM_OS_BB01R2=C:\Users\Dane\LaunchBox\Emulators\RetroArch\system\ATARIXL.ROM ROM_5200=C:\Users\Dane\LaunchBox\Emulators\RetroArch\system\5200.ROM ROM_BASIC_C=C:\Users\Dane\LaunchBox\Emulators\RetroArch\system\ATARIBAS.ROM ROM_400/800_CUSTOM=C:\Users\Dane\LaunchBox\Emulators\RetroArch\system\ATARIOSB.ROM It just will not get past that blue/purple colored load screen.

Does anyone know which line in the .atari800.cfg you put the path to your roms? I tried doing it via the emulator menu but my roms are on G drive and I cannot get out of C drive on the menu. RA launches just fine, I have my bios files in the system folder so I think I just need to stipulate the location of my roms?

It is a nice offer and it was a pleasant surprise.

Just wanted to say that worked out perfectly, thank you once again for the link .

Oh okay, I just purchased a life time license and it was $30. It was going to charge me $40 or $50 but when I uploaded my old license it changed it to $30.
-
I was sure I purchased a lifetime one but it must have been for a year. I am not upset about it, I just was not sure how it worked but I am happy to purchase again and will do a forever license this time. Thank you for replying.

I purchased a license on the 4th of February 2018. I have been having so many issues with RA lately I decided to wipe my entire LB/BB/RA, so basically everything. I just downloaded LB again and it says my license is no longer valid even though I was successfully updating to the latest LB the whole time. I just wanted to see if this is how it is supposed to work or if I will have to purchase again? Thank you.

Does anyone know out of everything in Device Manager that says 'controller' under 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' what might be an actual game controller?:
-
Ah, lovely, that is what I was after. I will attempt to create one from the RA overlay exodus_cl_night.png and see how I go. Thank you very much for the link.
-
I know in order to add a bezel on MAME you download the appropriate bezel for a specific game and drop it in the artwork folder. Since they seem to be named on a per game basis I was wondering if it is possible to apple one bezel to all games such as the exodus_cl_night overlay as that is my preferred one. Has anyone tried to do this before?

Thank you very much. My remaps folder is empty except for 'Genesis Plus GX' as that is the platform I am trying to map so that is all good. Inside that folder is a temp file with the following: input_libretro_device_p1 = "1" input_libretro_device_p2 = "1" input_player1_analog_dpad_mode = "1" input_player2_analog_dpad_mode = "0" I wonder why mine is not saving then.
-
Thank you. I just tried that and it did not work. The controls were not saved. So, when you save via the method you mentioned what folder does it save that to and in the input menu will wither of these tamper with manually mapped controls?: 'remap binds for this core' and/or 'autoconfig'. Thank you kindly.
-
Can anyone tell me after I have mapped the controls am I supposed to save it via the new overrides method found in quick start > overrides?
-
Thank you. Yeah, RA is a right proper pain. I mean, I love it when it is cooperating as it can do wonders but when it plays up it really plays up. You can set MAME up and leave it for years only to return and it was as you left it. If you sneeze whilst using RA it acts like you have just killed its' first born.
-
I appreciate your suggestion very much but unfortunately I had already done that so it is not the issue:
-
Besides what is in my configs folder are there any RA files I can delete which might be interfering with mapping my controls. I was wondering if there might be any old settings interfering with a new way RA maps controls. I have been trying for the last two hours and am about to throw my computer out the window.

I apologize as I have asked a few questions lately and they all seem like pretty simple straight forward things but for the life of me some of them as simple as they seem I just cannot figure out. Yesterday I spent about four straight hours changing all my previous custom configs over to this new core and directory override system. As I mentioned before I have been away from LB for a year or so as I had a busy schedule for a while and upon getting back into it there are so many issues despite not having changed anything. However, I know a year is a long time and there have been lots of improvement and changes in that time. I am trying to map the controls for a platform (Genesis) today and they will not save. I have it set to Device Type: Joypad Auto, Analog to Digital Type: Left Analog and Device Type: Fighting Commander. I remap all the button and it works during the game. Then if I exit RA and go back into it the controls no longer work. I have it set to save on exit and after I remap the controls I also manually save via the Quick Menu > Overrides. Just wondering if there is something new to RA since I have been gone or if there might be something obvious to someone else. Also, for whatever reason my FC controller's home button no longer works to exit a game. Thank you in advance.

I am going through now and updating my configurations via this new way. From what I can tell it still saves a config file in the same location/directory. So is the only real difference that you do not have to put an extra command line parameter? I am just asking out of curiosity because I have been away from LB and RA for quite some time.
