bjwest
Hey fellas, I was just wondering what specs your PC is for comfortably emulating the more demanding platforms like PS2, GameCube and Wii. Cheers

SentaiBrad
My PC is outdated in some respects, but upgraded in others. Motherboard is an MSI X58 Pro-E (2009) and a first gen i7 930 (2009). Otherwise I have a GTX 970 4GB, 12GB of DDR3 1866 RAM and 16.5TB total. Got a 27" IPS LG monitor, a 23" Spectre TV that I use primarily for my PC but it is there for all of our consoles for recording purposes. SentaiBrad
if you're planning on playing more intensive games your lack of GPU won't work. Not only are graphics from the CPU not nearly as powerful, but it will take away from your CPU doing regular CPU jobs. You can get a GTX900 series GPU and immensely increase performance. The other minor upgrade you could do as well is 16GB of RAM instead of 8GB. Grab 1600 or 1866 2 x 8GB sticks instead of 2 x 4GB sticks. Then if you need an upgrade later down the road you just repurchase the same kit of ram.

SentaiBrad
Wow that is a really bad list lol. A GTX760 is 2 series behind, but the best on that list.
bjwest
Will it be ok for ps2, gamecube, wii emulation though? that's my only objective haha
DOS76
I'm confused what is limiting you to only those cards and if you can install a 760 why wouldn't you be able to use other 700 series GPU's. I didn't know that this was an issue I thought that if your PC had 16x PCIe slot you could plug any GPU in as long as your PSU could handle the extra load. bjwest
It's a custom build ebay site and those are the cards they have to offer. I just wanted to find out the minimum video card requirements for emulating the high demanding platforms so I know what to look for. Thanks
DOS76
Both of my 750 TI's can run PCSX2 and Dolphin without issue.
SentaiBrad
i figured it was a site, but once you get the PC you can buy any GPU you want as long as you have enough power hookups and enough Watts from your PSU.
bjwest
I would prefer to get it all in one purchase to be honest, so the GTX760 will be fine for my needs?
SentaiBrad
Yea it'll work for PS2, Gamecube / Wii games.
DOS76
what do they charge to actually build the PC not including the parts?
bjwest
This is it here, it comes standard but upgrades available on most parts. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/INTEL-Core-i5-4670K-3-4GHz-DESKTOP-COMPUTER-1TB-8GB-HDMI-Quad-Gaming-PC-/360745037410
DOS76
I would have a hard time trusting that all the parts were new or were exactly what they were supposed to be but that's because I have trust issues.
bjwest
Their feedback rating is pretty impressive though..
SentaiBrad
It's still ebay regardless, always be cautious with them.
