ckp
I find the out of box mapping to be not so great because it's hard to use the Left Shoulder button to jump while my left thumb is moving around on the joystick or dpad. Any mapping suggestions that work well for most Saturn games?
ckp
think i found a good mapping!
Lordmonkus
Yeah trying to mad the Saturn buttons to an XBox 360 controller is tricky. That's why I use the Hori Fight Commander for Saturn games.
ckp
Wow, that's a serious (and expensive) controller!
Lordmonkus
The price has gone up on it a little, was around 35$ when I got mine but maybe it's gone up cause of the newer model one which is quite reasonable. https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Fighting-Commander-PlayStation-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01GVOFIAA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477795143&sr=8-1&keywords=hori+fight+commander
ckp
Ahh, I was looking at the one for ps3/4 which was like 65 bucks. Yeah, $39 for the one you linked to seems ok. I find that I like using analog joystick over dpad, but I have read the dpad is better for games like fighters. That said, I'm not expert. I am just a very casual gamer. Do you find that the Hori controller is well worth it?
ckp
@lordmonkus, does this work out of box with games that you currently use the xbox 360 for, or do you need to configure the emulators and pc games to use this one specifically? Lordmonkus
Yeah for whatever reason the one in the pic has gone up in price and is the one I have but when I got it it was not that much. I find the Hori controller to be phenomenal. The d-pad is amazing compared to the XBox 360 and PS3 controllers. I find the d-pad on those controllers to be awful, I cannot compare to the PS4 controller since I have not tried one. But having the amazing d-pad combined with the button layout to match any classic console controller is well worth the price. If it's the only controller plugged in it works out of the box but if you have it plugged in with another controller like the 360 controller you may have to do some configuring. Just set it to PS3 using the switch on the front of the controller and Windows recognizes it straight up and works great.

You don't set it to "PC" on a PC? Thanks for the info about this controller!
Lordmonkus
There is no "PC" setting on the one I showed the pic of first. It's meant for the PS3 and PS4 but setting it to PS3 makes it totally windows compatible. The newer model which I linked to the Amazon page does have the PC setting though so yeah set that one to PC.
