SentaiBrad
Use the MAME tutorial that we have. It's a bit older, so replace the version numbers with the current version numbers and there ya go. The Lightspeed stuff might also be outdated currently, but the rest should be good to go. All you need is MAME and the proper corresponding MAME Rom and CHD Pack, through LaunchBox with the MAME Importer.

SentaiBrad
Which one? The -L command is for RetroArch only, and the -skip_gameinfo -nowindow commands aren't necessary to making sure it runs, they just make the experience better. You put MAME in LaunchBox, make sure that the "Extract Rom Archives before running" is un-checked, put your rom files in the roms folder, the chd folders in the same roms folder. You run the importer and call your platform what ever you want (the default Arcade platform preferred) and make sure that it is Scraped As Arcade no matter what (if you use a non-default platform name). Going through the importer, you should come across a special screen for the MAME / Arcade importing, if not, press the back button on the wizard in the top right, on this page check the box to force using the MAME Importer (should be the last box, and it will only pop up if LaunchBox doesn't automatically do it for you, which it does automatically based on the platform name). On the MAME import screen check or uncheck the boxes and settings you want, and you should be good to go.
sarge1979
must be an error with the games I think then because it says missing chd files
SentaiBrad
Then find the corresponding CHD Pack (it will be a lot bigger) and put that in the roms folder as well. You'll want to put all of the individual folders in the roms path, not the chd files them selves. So ../MAME/roms/<game name>/__.chd. So the folders will be next to the rar files. sarge1979
With mame folders they should be a compressed zip folder I believe one of mine looks like this when it is opened.
SentaiBrad
There should be folders with chd's inside of them that match the rom files names, and the rom zip's should never be unzipped. Essentially, take a MAME .179 Rom Pack and a MAME .179 CHD pack, put the contents of each in to the roms folder and you're good to go; run the importer. sarge1979
Strange as I download the game and does not have CHD file. Just seen a video that you need to put these in a separate folder to the game one. I use to use retropie and the way I did the folder it worked fine with it. sarge1979
Think I have worked out what to do mate. The ones downloaded don't have chd files only roms so I need a program called clrmamepro to add these files back and then should enable me to get games to work properly. CriticalCid
CLRmamepro doesn’t create any CHD files, it only fixes the file/folder structure when something is wrong. You will still need to download a CHD set which matches to your MAME version. Just download it and move the CHD folders into your ROM folder. Than you should be good.
