Sebastien DErrico
Hello, I am a happy new customer of lanchbox. I am curious about how do you manage gamecube names in launchbox? I understand that the emulator can translate ID to names, but how we accomplish the same thing for launchbox? Thank you, Sebastien
InfinityFox
So are your games just labelled with the ID numbers or are they in a folder that has the full game name. If that is the case you can select use folder names when importing. That not what it says word for word but it's something like that. I don't know how the LB database will react to I'd numbers? Best to just import one file and see if the database picks it up.
SentaiBrad
It wont react to ID Numbers. There is zero internalization done for anything other than MAME. Also, the emulator doesn't translate anything, it doesn't really care what the name of the game is, it knows what game it is by an internal check if im not mistaken. What @InfinityFox said is the right method if they're in folders, and the folder has the name of the game. There is a check box during import to use the folder name instead of the file name, and this is what you would be looking for. If not, either the folder or the game files need to be renamed to the games.
Sebastien DErrico
Thank you for your answers! Is there are already a script somewhere that pickup the id from the rom filename then check in a list from another file for the corresponding name then rename the rom file? Thanks again! SentaiBrad
As far as I know, no that doesn't exist. Someone please correct me if that software does exist though. If the folder names are set up right, you should be fine anyways, but if the rom and folder name are set to the ID, then re-downloading a set that doesn't have this or re-naming them might be the only solutions (assuming someone else doesn't post software that can help in this case). LogicalEgo
Kind of maybe a long work around but Dolphin uses checksum, could maybe drop them in one at a time and rename that way.
