Issues/Requests: Organizational suggestions

Hi, I'm new to LaunchBox and am very impressed!  So far it's about everything I've wanted from a front end.  However, the more I get into organizing a giant ROM collection, I'm finding a few things I wish could be done.

- Would be great to designate a platform to more than one platform category.  For example, it's good to have "handhelds" separate from "console", but I would also like to group all Nintendo consoles into a platform category called "Nintendo."

- Would love the ability to hide a ROM from one list but include in a playlist.  For example, I'd like to hide hacked ROMS from NES, but have them displayed in a playlist called "Hacked NES."

- Add playlist folders so they can be grouped by subject.  For now I'm using the sort-by feature which is nice.

- Finally, would be great to be able to hide playlists or a platform so I can work on them before they display in Bigbox.

Thanks again for this amazing software!  Love the playlist feature!

Not sure if it's quite the way you are thinking in your head but you can do this already. Simply create a Platform Category and then for each of the different Nintendo related platforms you have, right click and edit them. Near the bottom you will see a dropdown menu for Category, there you can change it to your "Nintendo" category.

Like above this may not be exactly what you have in your mind but you can do this with the Platform Category like above and you can then tell each playlist to be displayed in the platform category of your choosing like above.

As for your other requests, as far as I am aware of right now they aren't available but are planned for a future release. More customization like the ones you are asking for and sub folders for playlists would indeed be welcomed by myself and many others.

Yes, although I was hoping you could put a platform in TWO categories, so "Nintendo Gameboy" could be in "handheld" AND "Nintendo."

Thanks for the rest of the feedback. :)

You could cheat it by creating a playlist of your Nintendo Gameboy games which would exist as well as your original Nintendo Gameboy platform. That way your original import platform would be in the "Handhelds" category and then your new playlist would go in the "Nintendo" category.

Agreed, this is why having "folders" and "sub-folders" within the playlists section alone would be awesome and hopefully sooner rather than later. This way we could use the platforms and platform categories for management and the playlists section for actual display and playing. Right now there are small workarounds we can do to help somewhat but they can only go so far.
