gandulio
Hi, I'm looking for a new pc for my cabinet to run smoothly BB. Actually I have a celeron with XP that's so poor for LB and most of all is giving me a lot of problems. The idea is a cheaper pc, I was thinking in APU Amd A8 7600 with integrated graphics that allow me use hlsl filters in Mame and I suppose a smooth performance of BB. I'm just going to use images and no music no video, platform wheel with logo, game list in text and fanart background in all.My daily computer is a laptop i5 2nd generation 2450m integrated graphics, 8gb ram, 500gb hard disc. With this, performance is not really smooth in BB (you can see how slows when fan art background have to be loaded) though laptop is a little bit neglected with many useless software and HD almost full. Comparing specs between A8 I want to buy with actual i5 I have, A8 is much better using all cores but almost equal in single core performance. Do you think would be a good deal together with 8gb ram and 256gb SSD hard drive and I could run BB perfectly smooth??? Keep in mind that pc would be just for the cabinet with emulators and Bigbox only, and to emulate mainly Mame and ps2 at most (but most important is smoothly en BB) Thanks for your feedback Enviado desde mi Nexus 5 mediante Tapatalk

I have a laptop with and AMD integrated laptop and HLSL did not run work well at all with it.
gandulio
So in Mame 1.83 is perfectly working with all 2d games included neogeo and cps2. I use hlsl to emulate a crt old monitor, applying scanlines , rounded corners and not too much (I suppose it's made for that). If you don't have any wrong in your mame config maybe my idea of AMD APU is not good, but I'd listened that AMD APU's are more powerful in graphics that equivalent in Intel (HD Graphics, mine is HD 3000), but I can't believe that a AMD 3-4 years newer works worst than mi i5 from 2011. SentaiBrad
Integrated Graphics only goes so far. The CPU is doing two jobs. Granted, the APU's are built this way, but it still needs to perform two jobs. Unlike a console, the PC's are a much much much different best, and the same hardware will not perform the same way. I say that cause they use an AMD APU. Even a cheap half sized GTX 950 or 960 will do significantly more than integrated graphics. An i5 / i7 with one of those half cards will get your decently far.
