syntax_X
I have a few titles that don't tie to a LB database number until you separately edit them and hit the "search for metadata" I figured if I was doing a bulk meta download then the first option "Search LB database" would be doing the same but it doesn't. What am I missing?
Lordmonkus
Select all your games you want to scrape and then go Tools > Download MetaData and Media.

Lordmonkus
It might be that the name of you rom is a bit off compared to what the database autodetects as and you need to manually do it.
syntax_X
I can select every game in the platform, tell LB to search the DB for game information, choose nothing from LB or EM and tell LB to overwrite existing metadata and the titles in question will still not obtain a LB DB number. If I edit them manually 1 by 1 they do.
syntax_X
Ok so your telling me that manual edit and bulk meta download have different scraping rules???
Lordmonkus
I'm just saying that what I said in my initial post worked for me. I just did it 2 nights ago on my "tester install" of Launchbox. I had a bunch of NES games but no metadata or artwork and I did what I said above and it grabbed them all except for the game 720 because its funky naming with the "degrees" circle. syntax_X
Yeah nah, doesn't work for me, I have to go to the titles with no images and press this button.
Lordmonkus
Then it could be just the name of the game files are not matching up with what the database auto detects it as and you have to hit the button and choose from the dropdown menu which one you want. syntax_X
There is only 1 option in the dropdown menu for the first game this happened with...... And it is a LB DB number not a wiki one( not searching wiki on bulk edit) Edited June 18, 2017 by syntax_X
Lordmonkus
Amiga stuff is a mess because there are several different file naming conventions out there. For example my Amiga files are all the WHDLoad stuff and those names don't match up either. So yeah there may only be one game in the database but your file name might not get picked up by the database as one that it's trying to match against. syntax_X
Ive had decent success with my WHDLoad collection by not searching for game information from the LB database or Wiki but still choosing everything from LB and emumovies. This way titles like World Boxing don't turn into 3D World Boxing or Destroyer turning into ADP Destroyer. So now I'm going through the titles with no images 1 by 1 and editing to tie a LB DB# to them but checking to make sure LB isn't naming them wrong. Would be nice to have a bulk version of this to compare the old name vs what will be the new name for titles with no images. SentaiBrad
The initial import and bulk edit afterwards are extremely strict to not pick up the wrong game.
syntax_X
Neither the initial import or bulk edit afterwards would pick up these Amiga titles but the manual edit does and most of them only have one option.
SentaiBrad
Like Monkus said though, the Amiga section is very wonky. I do know that there is an odd... "bug" (and I use that term lightly cause I have zero clue if it really is, with no proof), that using the Bulk Media Download method may not return results and download for some games. I've had games that were attached to ID's not download images using that method, but I can't prove it or replicate it most of the time. The best way to test it is to find games that do have Database ID's, change their names to be exactly what it should be on the Database, then run the bulk to check. If they're exactly the same as the Database and there are no other games in that platform with that name, and it still doesn't scrape right with that method, then I would be leaning towards calling it a bug.
syntax_X
Examples of the initial import scraping things wrong "World Soccer" into "3D World Soccer" "Jaws" into "Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus" "Eco" into "A.M.C.: Astro Marine Corps" "Destroyer" into "ADS: Advanced Destroyer Simulator" "Warp" into "Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp" "Invest" into "Chase H.Q. II: Special Criminal Investigation" "Edd the Duck!" into "Edd the Duck 2: Back with a Quack!" "Killing Machine" into "Human Killing Machine" But wont do anything with "The Bard's Tale Tales of the Unknown" unless I do a manual edit then it names it "The Bard's Tale: Tales of the Unknown, Volume I" Edited June 18, 2017 by syntax_X
syntax_X
I just scraped my entire Amiga collection and am sorting though the duplicate names to fix the incorrectly named ones. Wish there was an option to highlight duplicate names not just duplicate roms. Its faster than not scraping at all I think as the other way I was doing it had 250 games I would have to manually check..
syntax_X
Another thing I just noticed is if you disassociate a game from the LB or Wiki DB it doesn't disassociate the already downloaded metadata and images/videos. You have to go through each tab and make sure everything is clear.
syntax_X
I made a short list of WHDLoad game names that you should probably avoid searching the LB database for as they get renamed incorrectly. Archon Destroyer Bad Dudes Elvira II: [The arcade game] Eco Edd the Duck! Gladiators HardBall! Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis [The Action Game] Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Invest Killing Machine Jaws King's Quest Police quest Premier Manager Predator Quest for Glory SDI Shuffle Space Quest Super C Sword Typhoon Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles Warp Worms World Soccer Need English renaming for LB to find. Alfabet Smierci Astérix Operation Getafix Début Planet Simulation Hägar the Horrible Ishidó The Way of Stones Russelsheim I just want to point out these are WHDLoad title names, they come straight from the WHDLoad database, they are not some randomly named roms. Should probably edit LB to suit them or request they be renamed on the WHDLoad DB. If I find more ill add to the list.
