Aevans0001
Ok so I had .185 roms and wanted to upgrade to .193. I have gotten the info and now wondering how to add them to launchbox. My main problem is that I use favorites, so how do i upgrade them and also keep my favorites? If I import them again, it may work, but what happens to the games that are no longer there or got renamed in the new set. I suppose I can do a scan for removed roms, but it would be much easier if launchbox created a separate data file for platform favorites. My old frontend had a mame.xml and a mame_favorites.xml. So my question to you all is, how to upgrade the right way
DOS76
If you update your set there isn't really any reason to update LB the data that LB uses for MAME is outdated I believe like 174 or 175 so any newly working games in MAME won't get imported anyway since LB won't recognize them as working. If you come across a game that isn't working that used to work due to the ROM name changing just go and edit the game and change it to the new rom name. If you don't overwrite your old set in the same folder you will have to use the feature in LB to change the ROMs location to the new folder for LB to find the ROMs.
Aevans0001
Why does lb require an update to recognize games I have? There has been a ton of changes since .174. So this is something @Jason Carr has to do? hmmm Is there a way we can set a dat file for this to update for us?
DOS76
Yeah basically until Jason updated whatever he did to get MAME to work originally then it will only import working games up until that point there are no dat files that LB uses that will change that for you.
