M.U.G.E.N and Mugen

Hello,  As a somewhat noob, I have to ask.  What is the difference between M.U.G.E.N and Mugen?  I see that there is an emulator Mugen 1.1b but it doesnt play M.U.G.E.N games.  Help! =)

it's not an emulator. it's a 2D fighting game engine used for making your own characters, fullgames, or just playing with other ppl's creations.

So something Like Alien vs Predator and Bleach Mugen are really  PC games not a MUGEN, yes?  The reason I ask is for clarity with my game listing in Launchbox.

More like fan made material. But it would go in the MUGEN category because they are not legit pc games. Fighting game creator is what it is. Just like Rpg maker would go under it's own name because it is an engine that can create a bunch of other games.

Thanks!  I also noticed that there is a shader called SweetFX and gives games scanlines.  I am currently trying to usein a game called "Bastard" of M.U.G.E.N.

Are you familiar with SweetFX or Scanlines for MUGEN games?

Only works in the alpha and beta versions. Not in winmugen.

ahhhh!  So winmugen is different that Mugen that is different from M.U.G.E.N?

Well thanks for the clarity. I figured out how to increase the resolution and add scanlines to MUGEN games like Bastard and AVP.  In  case anyone reads this in the future, go to your data folder of the game and look for mugen.cfg

Edit the settings there to what  you like.  Looks awesome on Rocketlauncher with Bezels and the CRT 1080 Scanlines.

here is a sample of mine:

OpenBOR is another such engine that is mainly side scrolling brawlers like Final Fight etc.

This is a playlist of 42 MUGEN video clips that I uploaded to YouTube. The "Bastard!!" game you mentioned is in there too. I've actually created 140 in total so I must upload the rest soon. I've also uploaded about 370 OpenBOR clips if you ever get onto them. They took me weeks to complete. Emumovies is a bit patchy for MUGEN and OpenBOR videos.

Yeah, I created every single video in both of those playlists. I'm quite proud of them. They took me about 3 weeks fitting it in around work. Afterwards, I never wanted to see or play a MUGEN or OpenBOR game again heh.

Do you know how to download video's from YouTube? You surely must do being a RocketLauncher user! ;-)
