Some Zipped roms won't play?

I've come across a curious issue, that I'm not sure about.  Some roms in Launchbox (and Bigbox) won't launch when clicking Play or selecting from the wheel.. Instead, they open up the 7z file manager,  like it wants to extract,  instead of play the Rom.  I checked, and I do have the extract rom option checked under the emuiator.   I've run across more than a couple this happens with, no rhyme or reason.  I'm using the No-Intro romsets..  I can name 2 specific examples..  The Goonies II on NES, and Cosmic Chasm  on Vectrex.   The games launch normally from both Retroarch and Rocketlauncher.  I've unzipped, and rezipped them - both as .7z and zip - same issue.    I also just unzipped the goonies.nes file, and now I'm getting a "How do you want to open this file" window when I try to play it.

Any clues what could be causing it?

Thanks beforehand!

It sounds to me like for whatever reason the command line you have set for the emulator in LB is trying to execute the actual rom file rather than pass it as an argument to the emulator. That's why you get the 7z file manager when it's zipped and the open file dialog when it's unzipped (because Windows doesn't have a program association for those file types) just like if you were to double click the archive/rom through explorer.

Are you using RL for those systems or are you using an emulator directly? I ask because if they're working through RL the only thing that should make it not work from LB is a bad command line and even then if it was something weird there are some RL checks that would usually throw errors at you. FWIW, I've never heard of your situation happening on the RL side of things. If you are using RL for those systems you can enable logging in RLUI and I may be able to figure out the problem from the log.

I found the problem, though I'll be darned if I know what caused it.  Everything worked launching roms through the emulator directly, and through Rocketlauncher.  Only when using Launchbox/Bigbox was the issue occuring.  Did some digging, and noticed it was happening randomly on every platform I had installed.  Some games would launch, some wouldn't.  Seems that random roms - and I do mean random - have had the use emulator unchecked.  I have no clue how or why this happened. So I just used the bulk edit, and changed them all to use emulator, and that seems to have done the trick.

Thanks to you both for the replies!
