littlescratch
Hi, I am slightly confused with what to try next. Basically I have the following: Windows 10 1803 Samsung mu8000 with Steam App I can run other emulators fine, I can even run MAME fine when in launchbox on PC or Bigbox from PC and PC Steam Big Picture. Although when running Steam Big Picture from the Samsung TV APP, it wont let me run MAME games. Just crashes. When I look in the event log I get the following: Faulting application name: MAMEUI64.exe, version: 0.198.0.0, time stamp: 0x0cb3cc98 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.16299.402, time stamp: 0xd826f10d Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x00000000000f879b Faulting process ID: 0x2700 Faulting application start time: 0x01d3fc44c79578b0 Faulting application path: D:\Games\Emulator\Mameui64\MAMEUI64.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report ID: 937e237e-a8c2-4143-b655-635c3f4ba917 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Like I say I can run other emulators fine in Samsung Steam TV App just not MAME? What shall I try? I could borrow an old steam link from a friend but that seems overkill when Samsung TV app lets me run things in 4K. Don't really want 2 (software and Hardware) to have to just play MAME games in BigBox..... I'll give it a go anyway, so to try and pin point the issue more, but any other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance
littlescratch
Ok I must be doing something wrong. I got a Steam Link hardware device (all updated, even tried beta firmware) and it is doing the same thing. Basically when I stream a MAME game in BigBox through Steam Link Hardware + TV app, it crashes. Yet when playing via PC (Normal Steam and Big Picture) it works fine. I setup MAMEUI and Launchbox using this excellent video - Any help would be greatly appreciated Edited June 4, 2018 by littlescratch
littlescratch
Ok I have tried another machine to stream from, still windows 10 and using launchbox 8.2. Still getting the same issue. Seems as though it is either a bigbox issue or mameui config setting i need to change to allow it to stream via steamlink? Any other ideas I can try? I'm not looking to play the games on the PC just looking only to stream them really via steam link Thanks

littlescratch
That looks like that might do it. Apologies though, I am being a bit dumb but where do I set that. I have checked mameui.ini but not showing there.... Do I add it in or should i set it elsewhere?
littlescratch
Please ignore me.... right infront of me..... Mameui64\Ini\mame.ini
DOS76
also having the MAME.ini inside the ini folder and not in the root folder has been know to cause issues with MAMEUI builds so you may want to move the file out to the folder with the .exe
littlescratch
That worked a treat thanks! Just one more thing, I have a keyboard plugged into the TV but and i can use it in Steam Link, the only thing is it doesnt seem to passthrough the keystrokes to MAME. So I cant press TAB to get the MAME menu up to configure the controllers. Is there anything I can do? Maybe something in the mame.ini file again? I'll keep checking the forum and online Thanks
DOS76
I don't have SteamLink so its hard for me to say so not sure @Zombeaverany clues on that
Zombeaver
That's actually something specific to MAME. It doesn't accept simulated keyboard inputs, so a tab input on your keyboard connected to the Link doesn't register in MAME on the host (because it considers it simulated - you're not actually pressing that key on the host's keyboard). Your options are to use VirtualHere or to just setup the controller inputs in MAME on the host beforehand. Controller inputs still work in MAME via the Link, even without VirtualHere.
