How To Exit In Progress Game?

Hey guys, sorry if this comes off surprising to you but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to exit out of a game that is in progress back into Big Box mode. I am in Big Box mode and launch the game playing fine but I have no way on my controllers (Sanwai Custom Setup) to Exit...now before you say go into the settings>controller buttons and set an Exit button I wanna say I have done that; with that setting I am able to Exit the entire App but I want to just leave the game and fall right back into where I was in the game selection screen. 

Can someone please help?

You need to go to options/controller automation and set a exit combo there.

Most emulators use the Escape key to exit out but not all do so in those cases you will want to set up an Auto Hotkey Script key in Launchbox mode in the Edit Emulator > "emulator" window.

You can check the Auto Hotkey Scripts thread for example scripts that you can use for specific problematic emulators.

So I can hit ESC on my keyboard and it pulls up the menu asking me if i want to exit; but when i assign the ESC on controller it doesn't work when in game only when in Big Box? Do I need to write a script?

Which emulator is it that is doing this ? Chances are there is a script already made, the one I show in the screenshot works well for pretty much all emulators that don't use Escape to close out the emulator.

Currently on MAME 0.178.

Normally Mame doesn't require any scripting to close since it uses Escape by default to close out. But you can try can try this script for it.

Do I just need to create a TXT file to do this; I looked in my AutoHotkey dir and there is no scripts just AutoHotkey.exe and license.txt.

And of course this is assuming you set a button combo in controller automation, as that is what will send the escape command.

In LB go to Tools > Manage Emulators, then find the emulator you want to add that script to (Mame in this case), then in the Edit Emulator window go to the AutoHotkey Scripts paste that text into it, click OK and close it out. Try out a game and see if it works for you.

And yeah like Neil said, you still have to set a controller automation key combo to close it out, LB and BB have their own controller automation so you will have to set it in both.

Perfect that works; thank you so much! I have been a premium user for a while but haven't been using the frontend because I couldn't figure this part out but you fixed that for me!
