new to arcade games, vet at emulation

ok, so suggest me some games guys, im completely new to the whole arcade game thing, never really played, im building an arcade cabinet and its awesome having all these old snes/nes/etc games i want some more real arcade games(preferably with old school style leaderboards and everything)

so far i have all the snes games worth playing, all the nes games i remember from my childhood, all the sonic the hedgehogs on genesis, and a few GBA.

i have no idea how to get into MAME, or what games to seak out, im assuming it runs just like any other emulator right?
