WillyT
When I load Perfect Dark it freezes immediately at launch and completely freezes the entire system until I close everything down. Is it just a bad ROM? all other titles work great. Retroarch just stops responding - as it reads Edited August 23, 2019 by WillyT
Lordmonkus
If it doesn't do it for other N64 games then my first guess is a bad rom.
WillyT
Yeah, seems like it. Guess I'll switch it out and see what happens - got nothing to lose. Thanks for responding
Lordmonkus
I just loaded it up here using the Perfect Dark (USA) (Rev A).z64 rom file from the No-Intro N64 rom set.
WillyT
That's the rom I have. Loaded two other versions and the exact same thing happened at the exact same time. It freezes RetroArch in the loading phase. Ah the strange digital world.
Lordmonkus
It may be a setting in the core options. Are you using the latest Mupen64plus-Next core ?
WillyT
Yeah that's the emulator and it works great for anything else it's applied to. I wonder if I should switch it to the other emulator in the choice section?
WillyT
Actually the emulator is Mupen64Plus OpenGL
Lordmonkus
Try updating to the core I mentioned, it has a lot of improvements in it making games that were previously unplayable now not only playable but very well emulated.
WillyT
Cool, that update is in there and it read extracting when I hit enter but the other one remains with the ROMs to which it was originally assigned. I don't know how to switch beyond that point
Lordmonkus
In Launchbox go to Tools > Manage Emulators then your Retroarch emulator entry. In the Edit Emulator window go to the Associated Platforms tab and look for your Nintendo 64 platform, in the core column click twice to bring up the dropdown menu and select the Mupen64plus_next_libretro core. WillyT
Hmm, the only emulator in there is rocket launcher
Lordmonkus
Oh dear, then I cannot help you. I don't and never will use RocketLauncher, you are on your own or waiting for someone else to help you with that.
