MAME Auto Import Logic

I just let my LB import about 3000+ MAME games using the auto importer thing.

I'm noticing odd selections.  No Contra, but Gyzor was imported.  TMNT and Turtles in time imported 2 versions of it that aren't really correct.  tmnt.zip and tmnt2.zip are the ones that most people, use, no?

If I delete a rom from Launchbox, does it delete the media files or do they stay there?

I dont use the full importer, but if memory serves me correct it uses the Mame database file to import by filtering for working games and adding clone roms to the additional apps option putting clones under the main game. It would be hard for it to know to import which specific roms most people use since there is no data for that in the xml file.

If you delete a rom media does stay.

cool, so if I delete this mess then just do what I should have and created a curated list of roms I want, it will add but not redownload art?  Or will it always redownload art automatically?

Does it check the media folders before downloading?

I feel like this artwork and video stuff should just be named according to the rom or game and kept with my romset...

Just uncheck the box for media when you get to those screens in the importer. You should see an "Uncheck All" box on the screens for downloading media from Launchbox and EmuMovies.

OK I found a hyperspin utility called Rom Folder Cleaner that takes my XML and purges the full romset of everything that's not in the xml (moves it to another directory).

Now i want to delete everything that's in there and restart, but i dont want it to rescrub all the media.  If I uncheck the media as you said, will it search local?
