Mezameta
Hey guys, brand new to the site, like 50% new to launch box (been messing with it for about a week) and I've run into a few things that I feel like should be super easy to solve but i'm getting stumped. For reference i'm trying to use Retroarch for as many things as possible but am not opposed to any other emulators or ideas if they're not overly complicated. 1. I've been trying to get Neo Geo CD to run, and i'm not entirely sure why it isn't. When I check my retroarch system folder I appear to have the bios I need (unless I literally am misunderstanding which bios I need..), I have ALL of the retroarch cores downloaded, I have what I was told was the correct core set for SNK Neo Geo CD (based on what some other people who use retroarch for it are using), and as far as I can tell all of my roms are named correctly. Launchbox recognizes them all and I was able to scrape for everything so I assume that isn't the issue. However I am wondering if either: A. I am using the incorrect file type (I have rar files, and those files work 100% flawlessly in my Attract Mode setup using Retroarch so i'm unclear why they wouldn't here. B. Should be using (no idea where to find a set ready to go) a CHD set and using MAME to run them or something similar? 2. While exploring launchbox I realized I can add literally ANY "system" or platform I want so long as I have the emulators and cores I need to run it, so I decided I wanted to setup a "Hacks" platform (nes, snes, genesis, game boy advance and game gear). Issue is I realized that other than going through one by one and editing, there isn't really a way to get media for this. I understand that for some games, media may not exist, but I was told that on emumovies there DOES exist media for hacks? I looked all around the site and I didn't find this. Is there anyone who could either A. Share their media that works on launchbox (correct naming since pngs and videos are named really weird on launch box) or B. Could direct me to this supposed media if you know where it exists within the site? 3. I've been trying to google, and i'm sure i'm just overlooking a lot of it, but I've been trying to find a "complete" list of all the systems that launchbox supports and what retroarch cores some of the more obscure ones take (Sega Hikaru, Model 3 (I tried mame but they wouldn't load...even though Model 2 is running through there I believe lol), etc etc. I'm not sure if I worded that correctly, but being able to see a list would make some of this confusion go away for setting up some systems I think. 4. Dreamcast Indies. I've heard numerous ideas for this, many of which have not worked, some of which have semi worked. I've tried all of the following: Running it through both reicast cores (most games won't even load), running it though Redream core, some things work but the sound is non existent, running it through a standalone Redream emulator, usually games have flawless sound but will go black completely upon actual gameplay time (Sturmwind is a great example of this for both of those attempts) and a few other things. Is there a DEFINITIVE way that you guys have dreamcast indies setup to where all the games actually work properly, whether that be a specific emulator, certain core, a setting etc that i'm missing? I have so many other questions but lets start with those
proghodet
2. My suggestion is to add the games to their respective systems, and create a playlist that you call Hacks 3. Whatever you can make run on your machine can be run through LaunchBox. Get your emulator to work outside launchbox before setting it up inside launchbox

I'm not having an issue getting the hacks to play or show up, that part is easy, my issue is a complete lack of media of any type makes it unappealing to put them in (no box art, no pngs, not even clear logos) so i'm wondering if that stuff IS actually available somewhere. 3. I understand, but I don't actually know..i don't know how to say it, but I don't know which emulators and cores I need for several systems, if I knew that info I could test it a lot easier you know? proghodet
2. Ah, now i get what youre saying! I think hacks has been intentionally left out for now 3. This may help
Lordmonkus
NeoGeo CD I recommend using Mame stand alone, using the Mame core in Retroarch is much trickier but the FBNeo core supports it as well. Here are a couple of threads discussing the matter. As for Dreamcast indies use either Demul or the Flycast core in Retroarch, I can't say I have tested them all but all the ones I have tested work in both of those emulators, including Sturmwind which is known to be a tricky game to emulate. Mezameta
My computer is being stupid and not loading the pages for me right now (I got a virus last night and I can't open my launchbox either...so I may be screwed but i'm working on it lol), so i'll try to view them in a while if can sort that out, I DID realize that my Neo Geo CD games are actually CHD format, does that affect my choice here?
