Two screen artwork issue

I have a two screen bartop cab that has one screen in landscape orientation and one vertical. I have Mame setup to show vert games on the vertical screen.

In Bigbox the landscape screen is setup as the main screen, and the portrait as the secondary(marquee) screen. When using Bigbox to select games on the landscape screen, the vertical screen shows artwork for the current game. When a landscape orientated game is run, the game's artwork remains displayed on the vertical screen throughout the duration of gameplay.

However, when a vert game is run (Mame) and is shown on the vertical screen the landscape screen gets blanked and nothing is displayed. It would be ideal if the Bigbox loading artwork remains on the landscape screen.

I'm not sure if this is a Mame issue or a Bigbox issue that is causing the landscape screen to be blanked on vert games. Any ideas what is causing this (and possible solution)?

The issue is in BigBox you can only register a primary screen and a marquee screen. You cannot control when they can flip between each other. Even though you can set Mame to know when to flip to the portrait screen for vertical games BigBox still has it registered as the marquee screen. So that functionality does not exist currently.

Thanks for the quick reply.

So there's no way to stop the main screen loading artwork from going blank?

On a somewhat related note. For some newer vertical games (such as Ikaruga on PC), in order to get the game to display on the vertical screen correctly I need to use the Windows key+ P to "duplicate" (mirror) the screens before launching. After doing this there's no longer a 2nd screen (for the marquees) so the Bigbox main window is now overlayed over the marquee artwork window (which is understandable).

So when switching back to desktop "extend mode" the marquee screen is no longer on the 2nd vertical display. It seems that BigBox does not "reset" the main and marquee screen.

Is there a way to reset the main and marquee screens? Either through the options menu (where the 2 screens are set), or maybe mapped to a keyboard/button. This might be a feature request.

You might be able to dome some the things your talking about using a third party tool such as display fusion.  I have not done the exact things your talking about but i do use display fusion to shutdown my secondary marquee monitor when playing some gun games with the Aimtrak.  I have also used it to remember open window positions before starting a game in bigbox and then restoring them after exiting a game.  display fusion can all be scripted by using a batch file and then adding the batch files for each game under "additional apps". Check it out maybe it will help.

When trying to figure out how to have games displayed on the vert screen I did find find the Display Fusion tool but didn't want to spend the $$ on it in case it didn't work the way I wanted. Then I found the "windows+P" shortcut which worked adequately but is a bit clunky. I might have another look at Display Fusion.

Which version do you use, Pro Steam?
