NightShadowPT
Hi, I'm configuring Launchbox on a tabletop arcade and I'm trying to make the OS, emulation, etc, as invisible to the user as possible. Currently I'm struggling with mame, when I exit a game (back into BigBox) the MAME gui (green ugly thing) flashes briefly, ruining the continuity experience. Is there any way I can avoid seeing the mame GUI when I exit a game? Also, if I exit the game through BigBox's in game menu, I get thrown into the MAME Gui, not BigBox. Any ideia on how to fix this? Cheers, Edited May 10, 2020 by NightShadowPT
Headrush69
Are you using the standard Mame or a variant? The standard Mame would only return to its GUI if a game was started from it, not the command line.

It makes no sense... Also, using RetroArch I can configure my controls and CRT emulation all from the same place, so there are advantages to using RetroArch. If there are no other options, I'll use the regular version of MAME, but it seems a waste of a perfectly good core.

Well the issue with MAME in Retroarch is that the MAME core still has the MAME UI, so you have a UI inside of a UI. I use Retroarch for most systems myself, but i dont use it for Arcade, quitting games dropping me into the MAME UI being the main reason.
