GeeniX
I will try to explain this the best I can as this is one of the weirdest computer problems ive ever seen. Out of the blue, BigBox stopped working. If I reboot my computer, it will work for a bit, but eventually it will freeze and crash and then it will not reopen. It will play the intro video and go no further. Not only this, but after BigBox crashes, many things on my computer do not work. Emulators will launch but trying to launch games will crash them. I have tried uninstalling launchbox completely and starting from scratch, even with just a small library running and the default theme, the same thing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, tried only using certain games from different platforms but it is the same result every time. I currently have it completely uninstalled and everything it would mess up is working fine. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
C-Beats
When is the last time you did an integrity check on your drive? Big Box shouldn't ever be affecting you the way you described. It is possible though that a bad sector could cause issues similar to some of the symptoms you are referring to. Also would be worth while to enable debug logging if not on already and then posting the log to see if there is anything in there that could provide more clues as to what is happening. GeeniX
I ran a CHKDSK and it didn't come back with any problems when I was looking in to this before, I can try to do a reinstall and recreate this and get the log when im able to. Thanks. I had logs running before and didn't see anything for the crashes, when I would try to reopen the logs would give a notice they found all the configuration files and not go any further. DOS76
did you run a chkdsk /f only that is very basic and just scans the file system if you want to look for bad sectors you have to run it with the /r command instead of /f
GeeniX
Did not know about /r CHKDSK my bad, I ran that last night and it seems to be ok from what I understand of the log. There is one section where it says it "Cleaned up 128 unused security descriptors." if that is meaningful to this. I could post the full log if need be. However, today I tried to reinstall LaunchBox again and it booted fine the first time and did not crash. When I tried to reopen it, it did the same thing, would not launch and caused other programs to not work. HOWEVER, that is the only time I have been able to recreate it today. It seems to be working just fine for now? Ill post more if there are any problems as I start rebuilding my library.
