Armhunter
This just started to happen.. I have not updated lunchbox to the latest, which i will try tomorrow. But I wanted to know if anyone has seen this issue. Boot the PC and then run BIGBOX. Select a game and it loads no problem. Hit the button for coins then start the game. Doesn't matter what game , it happens to all of them. The game plays no issues for about 2-3 times. Then when you try and play 4th or 5th time the player start button quits working. The only button that continues to work is the coin button. I reboot BigBox. Game loads up and I add coins, the player start doesn't work. So I reboot the PC and this whole process starts over. I tried using just Launchbox without big box.. same issue.. So then i run it using only Mame64 and it works fine. Something is messed up in Launchbox and it all the sudden started doing this. Please help if you can.. thank you.
Jason Carr
@Armhunter I have not seen that. What type of controller are you using?

Jason Carr
When things happen out of the blue like that, it's most often caused by Windows updates, sadly, or something of that nature. Maybe check to see if you have any driver updates available?

I can tell you I have had random issues with some of the EasyGet controllers. I stopped using them. In one of my last cabinet builds I used the EasyGet in every so many select button hits it calls the select button twice. So if I hit select to enter into a platform I will end up on the Game Details screen of the first game. I had that USB controller for over a year and about 4 months in that started happening. Swapped it out for a new one and it went away. I tried the board that was having the issue in another cabinet and the issue occurred. So it was the board. I have had 4 show odd behaviors like this. Not saying this is what is happening to you, but if there is any way you can get another USB controller board or try the one you have in another pc it would be a good troubleshoot to confirm.

Thats not good.. I have been using them for a while.. I'm currently building an amazing arcade cabinet and would hate for this guy to have issues later down the road. Im going to take a new control board to my jiujitsu academy and see if that fixes it. Trial and error should fix this issue. I appreciate your help! keep up the good work... thank you
Retro808
Hopefully its not the board. Just wanted to mention it since I have used those boards and had some issues.

Just wanted to mention it since I have used those boards and had some issues. Did some more testing. Its not the boards. In mame 64.. not sure which version but I haven't changed it since i built it over 6 months ago.. it never happens. Works perfectly. but in either Launchbox or BigBox it will do it even after I installed the latest update. once it happened, I tried a few things. I unplugged the control stick from the usb cord and plugged it back in.. Same issue.. Then I tried to reprogram the start button to another button: It let me reprogram the button as if its working just fine, but it will not let me start the game. I even set the game to freeplay and nothing. Very strange issue. Tomorrow I will see if it effects all the games. I only had time to check Galaga. Im very frustrated because i let the kids use this arcade all the time and they love playing on it.. but now it has issues. The game will work for a few rounds, then it just won't let you start the game... crazy.
Retro808
What Mame are you using? The regular Mame (command line) or one of the offshoots like MameUI or Arcade64?

Update: i tested longer in MAME and nothing froze or repeated the issue, so I decided to uninstall Launchbox and start over after testing all the buttons and joystick directions to make sure everything works and nothing is cross wired. Didn't have much time to test the new install, but I will this week. Strange that this happened but I do have a lot of kids playing on this machine every night. I decided to take the keyboard away so they can't try pushing keys like crazy and change things. hopefully this is it.
