Rik3Rr
Hi all, I prefer to use FBNeo via Retroarch whenever possible due to ease-of-use over MAME; however, there are some games which one can only play via MAME. I'd therefore like to use both with Launchbox, but am scratching my head how to do this with the least amount of effort given the amount of games in question. I have already synced my FBNeo romset into Launchbox; however, I think I imported it as a MAME set. I notice in the "arcade" section that I have games which don't actually exist within my "arcade" roms folder. I'm guessing that this is related to importing the FBNeo romset as an actual MAME set when it is not, I did this so that I would benefit from the MAME playlists. Should I download a MAME romset and import that? If I do that, how do I undo what I did with FBNeo and some games showing up in LB that doesn't actually exist? Should I delete all arcade games in LB, and then go through a new procedure to add both FBNeo and MAME games? Also, what happens when a game is available to play on both FBNeo and MAME? How do I tell LB to prefer FBNeo whenever possible? Thank you for the help!
Retro808
To use a different emulator for a specific game just edit the game in LB and change the emulator it is using. You can also click multiple games and edit their emulator in bulk. Go to the Emulation section in the edit game window and change the emulator there. Just make sure what ever emulator you change it to that emulator has the platform name that game is in listed in its Associated Platforms tab within LB Manage Emulators. I would recommend just using a current full Mame rom set and Mame. I know some users seem to feel Mame is hard to use but it is one of the easiest to set up. I used to do the FBNeo this and Mame that type set-up but it just became too much of a pain to manage anytime I wanted to update things. Especially if I had a platform that some games used one emulator and other games used a different one. So much easier just to update my current Mame roms, run the Mame importer again, and pretty much done and have the latest roms.
