Help fix the mess - 'Rom file you've specified does not exist' - rom paths haven't changed, launchbox directory location has

I had to reinstall launchbox after having the CefSettings.BrowserSubprocessPath not found issue. my antivirus had quarantined it but was getting an error when trying to restore, so just had to reinstall.
I noticed upon reinstall that it says don't install in program files (which is where itw as installed previously), so I installed it in a different place, and copied everything from launchbox's original folder over to the new place, overwriting anything it had to.

everything LOOKS ok. But it's not.

any game I try and launch says rom file doesn't exist. attempting to open a game directory flags up 'specified application folder for this game does not exist'.

I have far too many games on here to ever realistically be able to reimport and sort all of this again, this is years' work.

My games directory is separate to launchbox and hasn't moved.

Could one of you please help? Getting desperate!

Edit: yes I've looked at the thread attached, and don't understand how there can be 2 xmls (and which xmls they're on about) as if it was a duplicate surely it was overwrite..... any help or clarification greatly appreciated

Not sure I've seen the error you're talking about regarding not being able to install to Program Files before (unless that some OS error you were getting). You however easily change the roms paths in your collection. Open LaunchBox and select a single platform in the side bar, then select all the games in the grid and go to Toos > File Management > Change ROMs path for Selected Games (or something similar to that) and point it to the folder those games are in, then rinse repeat for all your platforms.

Did you ever get this fixed? I am about to jump off launchbox. So LAME. I paid for full too. NEVER again.

Well, before you get to riled up lets at least find out what you did exactly so we can provide proper troubleshooting. I see your post in the other thread did not provide any actual useful data as well. So let's start fresh.

(Future Reference: Do not spam multiple threads with the same issue. Pick one, post there, and allow users a chance to respond).

1. Did you simply update to a more current LB or did you move drives and then update?

2. Look inside your \Data\Platforms folder. Make sure you only have one xaml file per platform. If you have anything such a Sega Genesis.xaml and say a Sega Genesis_backup.xaml you need to delete all those other xaml. Only the main platform xaml should be there. LB does not make those backups. Usually those are done if you use Skraper. If the answer is "No" to this question then we can proceed with further troubleshooting.
