pixelmonk
The updater says an update has been downloaded and ready to install. I click to install it and it says some other process (like dropbox???) is using the installer. It errors out then restarts Launchbox and then the updater starts again. So it's in a loop. I tried shutting down launchbox, going into the updater folder and manually installing the update but windows says it's not valid. I also try deleting everything in the updater folder and try again. No luck. So every time there is an update I'm forced to go to the Launchbox website, click on the download, type in my email, wait for the email, find the email, download from the email and manually install over the existing installation. It's been like this for about 3 years now. From an engineering perspective, having an updater that works seems like it would be meaningful. All the emulators have this. More so, having members download the update without having to fill out a form and wait for a download link in an email is a no-brainer. Lets get this done. added: I should add this is the case for 3 different systems I migrated my games from (all 3 windows 10 PCs). Every single one has had this updater issue. C-Beats
I can assure you the issue is local to your environment. We have already had several thousand users update automatically without issue so there is something going on in your setup. If you can proceed without the excessive aggression I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot the issue to see if we can find the cause and get you squared away. scooter1974
Have you tried un-installing dropbox to see if that resolves the issue? Is your anti virus possibly corrupting the update file? What do you have for an anti virus? Is the same OS imaged across all 3 PC's?

pixelmonk
I don't have dropbox and AV isn't corrupting anything. It's Win10 with the same updates. One system isn't used anymore and the other 2 can't be imaged because the hardware is different. On 1/20/2023 at 2:36 PM, C-Beats said: I can assure you the issue is local to your environment. I'd like to see where "excessive aggression" was used? Wait... instead, let's stay on track with the issue, since someone else appears to have the same problem. If a user were to uninstall launchbox in an effort to troubleshoot this issue, which directories should be copied somewhere else then added back to the new install? I'm referring to catalogs of games, configs for emulators and so on. I figure since you're saying it's my environment across my PCs (with no dropbox and no issues ever with AV and other apps udpating with no problems), it has to be something with the Launchbox app/directory being corrupt somehow or having old data. So what should I trash and start over with regards to Launchbox itself. Edited January 22, 2023 by pixelmonk
