Platinum1133
Hey, so I am in the process of building an arcade cabinet admittedly I am about a billion times better building the cabinet then i am with the computer end part. I am determined to make my vision a reality so this process has definitely been a lesson in patience, I know I will be called doctor after all is said and done...... anyway to the point. I am looking for a way to be able to turn on my cabinet without having to crack it open every time. a review of where i am at so far. i have a mini beelink pc ( this one has WOL) not sure if that helps or not but thought it worth mentioning. i have a power bar that will turn on the monitor and the marquee when the computer powers on. the mini pc is a beelink SER5 MAX not sure what other info i can provide here to help get the best answer for what i am asking. open to suggestions or ideas thanks in advance for the help
Retro808
Never cracked one of those open, but I assume like any other pc type of build you can open it and wire in longer power switch lead to it and mount that switch externally on the cabinet. These are what I use in my builds, but I also do not use any pc cases and just mount the pc and fans as part of the cabinet build. Makes moving and servicing/upgrading easier. Cabinet (monitor/pc power) are all powered by an external connector (the connector has a power switch but that only turns power on and off) and to turn on the pc (boot it) I just hit the button. I do it this way so I do not have to shut down overall power to reboot.
C-Beats
What I did is added a socket switch (I didn't use this one, but shows you what I mean). Then when I want to turn the cab on just make sure it's plugged in and turn the switch on. The PC is set to auto start when it receives power and so I don't have to touch anything after that. Using one of these though you WILL want to remember to use it to shut the cab off AFTER the PC has been shut down correctly.
