Help in rebuilding my Launchbox setup.

Sigh ok

So I was a pretty early adapter of LaunchBox. Early 2016 i believe. Followed tutorials, built my frontend and left it at that. I was happy with what it was. It's been years since i really paid attention to whats been going on with this software. I've used bigbox exclusively for almost the entire time. I've added a few romsets, always updated when prompted.

Today after almost 8 years, I have to rebuild it. Good news is I had all my media backed up. Just not the program itself.

If someone could just give me a very basic idea of my best way of going about this. Should I just import wizard everything? Let it download all that media again, delete everything I had backed up?

Can I just import all the roms with the wizard, drop all the media in the proper folders and it will magically just work?

I'm not overly concerned about re-downloading images. There's probably much better scans now than back in 2016. It's more so the videos i don't want to download again,

Is there a updated tutorial on YouTube or anything that you guys would recommend I watch that factors in all the new features I don't want to ignore?

I feel very overwhelmed, there has been so many updates and upgrades to this software over the years that I have just ignored. I don't even know where to begin.

Lastly, Jason If you see this. Sorry for ignoring all the work you have put into this great program. As you will probably understand, family, work, priorities. Your work and dedication is appreciated though.

Appreciate any input, thanks for reading.

If you have the old data files backed up (LaunchBox does it automatically and sticks it in \\LaunchBox\Backups unless disabled) you can just use one of those backup files to restore all your data by deleting everything in \\LaunchBox\Data and then extracting the data from that backup into the folder. With media you have two options. You can just place the media in the correct folder and as long as the title hasn't changed they will just work. We also now have a image pack import that can be used to import packs of media like you have.

We have a tutorials playlist on our YouTube channel, and do release videos for every release where we try to give a short guide on how to use a new feature. You should be able to find almost everything you need from either source. If you don't feel free to ask on the forums or reach out to support@unbrokensoftware.com

Simply means you have the rare opportunity to rediscover the app as a new user. Not many people have that new user experience twice, the gratification of discovering different little things you, up until now, may not have been sure were even there! That being said that same experience very easily can result in feeling overwhelmed, and if it gets to that point feel free to reach out with any questions.

Unfortunately, backups were lost as well. I'm happy I can just transfer all the media over.

You are very correct. Instead of a quick fix I think I will take the time to relearn, map out and rebuild. Just briefly looking at some forums posts I'm beginning to see how robust this software truly has become. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
