Sevenlives
So I'm looking to get a miniPc to be able to emulate mame nothing much further than that (perhaps duckstation, but that's it). Can someone recommend me a cheap miniPC that won't break the bank that will be able to run this just fine? I've heard Launchbox doesn't play as nicely with Intel as it does with AMD chipsets. Any truth to this? Thanks in advance!!

Don't know where you heard this but I have never heard anything of the sort. While I can't recommend anything specific as to what to buy but if I were buying I would try and get the fastest modern CPU and a dedicated GPU (no on board video) that fit within my budget. The GPU will help Launchbox / BigBox and if you wanted to use shaders or uprezzing of 3D games quite a lot.
Sevenlives
Thank you so much for the information. Would a MiniPC with an N4000 or N4020 be enough for Mame 2d games?

Would be pretty difficult to find something that can't play MAME games (at least without shaders). I have 50USD handhelds that can play MAME... lol
Sevenlives
Gotcha! Maybe I'm overthinking it. I just don't want to spend 100+ on a mini pc just to play 16bit mame games. Im trying to find something (even if older) in the 50 bucks range. Thanks!
C-Beats
LaunchBox requirements to run smoothly are higher than MAME is for the most part. Some of the newer CHD games may require more but they are almost all 3D games that I know of. I admit I don't play games that require them ever. Sevenlives
I bought the following mini PC, but had to return it. Unfortunately, BigBox proved too to be much, and even mame was running with audio glitches. iKISMET Dream Quest Mini Desktop PC Intel Celeron J4125 8GB DDR4 128GB Win10 I'll try to splurge a bit more to get this running. Anyone know what I should at look to maximize? 16gb ram?
