I'm trying to import my vast JTAG xbox 360 library and because most of these games are ripped to a HDD, they are not in .iso form.  I'm trying to add games to launchbox, but using the import option imports more than just the default.xex thats in each game folder.  Is there any way I can make launch box import ONLY default.xex or *.iso files?

Hi there,

Thanks for the great question! If you’re using the import wizard, during the final stage of the import—where it presents all the files it’s going to import—you can actually remove items from that list by simply clicking on them and pressing the Delete or Backspace key.

This way, you can trim out any unrelated files and ensure that only the necessary file is imported to launch the game (I’m assuming in this case, that would be the .xex file).

For .iso files, since they are single files, LaunchBox should only be importing that one file. You can even use the auto-ROM import feature with .iso files—this is how I currently have Xbox 360 configured.

Hope that helps! Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,

there are multiple .xex files per game in some instances. Launchbox also scans for .lex, .hkx, .GHG, ..etc files....I'm looking for a way to tell launchbox to JUST search for Default.xex ONLY.  Bioshoock Infinite by itself scans as over 25 different files.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, there's no way to have it automatically filter out certain file types based on it's format during the import. The only way currently would be to manually delete them during the final summary wizard.

One thing that springs to mind though,is  what if you just dragged and dropped the .xex files into LaunchBox? That was it only creates a single entry with that file, and assuming that file is what launches the game things should work. It may not correctly match the imports to a game in the database (depending how they are named), but just wanted to throw that suggestion out there.

Let me know how you get on

Navigate to the the root folder of your 360 roms in Windows File Explorer. Then in the search bar type "default.xex" (without quotes) to get a list of all files by that name. Select all the records and then drag them over LaunchBox. The Drag/Drop wizard will open, select ROM import (top option) and then proceed like usual.
