I have over 4600 ROM's for Nintendo DS, but LaunchBox only shows the image for one ROM (Princess Lillifee: My Wonderful World).

All the other images are blank.

The following folder only has the one image file:

C:\Users\UserName\LaunchBox\Images\Nintendo DS

What do I have to do to get LaunchBox to fetch the other image files?

Also where can I get Image-packs from?

I figured out that there's a bug in LaunchBox, where it doesn't recognize Nintendo DS files which are compressed.

I don't see this being an issue with the following platforms (NES, SNES, N64, GBA, Atari2600, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, and Playstation).

It looks like platform Neo Geo also has this bug.

I have ZIP files for all my ROM files in all platforms, and I have by far the most ROM files in the Nintendo DS platform (4684 ROM files). I don't have the space to decompress all these files just to get it to fully work with LaunchBox.

Can a fix be made for this bug, and if so what type of time line are we looking at?

Scraping tool doesn't even look at the file or file path to determine what to grab so I'm not entirely sure how you came to this conclusion. If you have solid repo steps using the Help & Support > Report a Bug link at the top of the page with steps on how to get this bug to show and the team can look into. As of right now I suspect the cause is something else entirely though.

I came to this conclusion because I tested it by decompressing a dozen files, and then running the import ROM option.  Only the dozen files that were decompress showed an image.

I was easily able to reproduce this on two computers. Both computers show this issue with Nintendo DS, but not with the other mention platforms.  I haven't fully tested Neo Geo, so I'm not certain if it will work with decompress files.

But Nintendo DS is easily reproducible.

I'm certain the issue is not something else.  I'll make a bug report tomorrow, although I'm not sure what other details are needed to help reproduce this issue.

Things like what the file name is of the zip vs the file you see working. When importing the zip the file if you go to the game and enter the Edit Game window in the upper right do you see a GamesDb number/link showing that it's associated? What image are you seeing show? What options are you using in the media select page? Do you have the media limit set?

I posted details on this issue in a bug report, but I don't see that submission.

I'll re-post it here since this is the only post that's getting any attention.

This bug is easily reproducible. All you have to do is take a folder, and create 5 files that are NDS files, and 5 files that are NDS files in ZIP files.

Then import the files via Tools->Import->[Rom Files]->[Single Platform].

After importing, you'll get the following results.

In above image, only the NDS files have images associated with the ROM file. My expectation is that all the ROM files should have images associated with them.

I made sure that all 10 files in this test are files that are in the LaunchBox database under Nintendo DS.

I suspect the issue is your naming of the zip files. Normally the name will be the same as the file being compressed and not with the .nds appended to the overall name. Example: LEGO Batman 2 - DC Super Heroes (E).zip and not LEGO Batman 2 - DC Super Heroes (E).nds.zip

Have you tried the naming I gave in the example?

Yeah, isn't really a zip issue, it's that your files are named poorly and you have a double extension on them. If you'd like I can give you steps on how to import them as in and then clean up your data files so that you can run the download metadata/media tools. I can also say with most certainty no code changes are coming down the pipe in the foreseeable future to really address this.

I see that as good news, since I can easily fixed that programmatically on all 4600 files. I originally used a Powershell script to compress them a while back, which unfortunately compress the files with the full original file name. I now have a better tool that will compress the ROM files without the nds.zip extension.

This also explains why I only see this issue in DS platform, because I used the other tool to compress the ROM files on all the other platforms.

I'm surprise LaunchBox doesn't have logic to handle this use case.
