I recently came across this system whilst browsing some old catalogs and decided to add it to my LB collection. The console was produced by Memorex and distributed in collaboration with Tandy in the early 90’s.

It took me a couple of weeks but I managed to locate covers, snaps and other media items for all the released software (about 50 CD’s). The system was similar in concept to the Philips CDi and 3D0 in that it was mainly educational/informational multimedia but had a few games. The VIS stands for “Video Information System”. I am using MAME as the emulator and it runs the software flawlessly.

So I would like to share all of this unique and now complete collection with the LB community but am unsure how to do this. If one of the devs creates a new entry in the database I will happily upload all items and metadata or is there another way to get these covers, spines, clear logos, disk and snap images so others can enjoy this interesting console.

Only one person PM'd me about this collection in 9 months. All i wanted was some advice about how to make it available to the LB community and apparently no one knew.

Anyway, I don't want to see this collection disappear into the ether so for right or wrong i am posting the Image folder here in hope that someone may get some use from them.

First off, thank you for your patience. :)

If there isn't a specific platform available on the LaunchBox Games Database site for this, you can submit a Feature Request to have it added.

Go here Feedback - LaunchBox Games Database and click Create A New Post.

You can also, near the top of this page click the Downloads 'tab' (scroll to the top, it's located between the Activity and Gallery tabs.  Not the 'Download' button at the very, very top).   Click Submit a file.  If you can't find an appropriate category to select, at the very bottom of the list is LaunchBox/Big Box Media.

Thanks for the advice and help. I will submit an application for a new entry on the database.

Some people look at LB as a convenient way to run old games and software, I have always thought of it as a remarkable way to archive old systems and their software. Over the years I have uploaded thousands of covers for various older system including the Apple II, Atari 800 & TRS-80 and have added a few other systems to my local LB setup that aren’t in the LB database (GAMATE and C64GS). I have often wondered how many other people like me have these valuable private collections stowed away.

Anyway, thanks again for your help and to the creators LB which for me has been a fantastic hobby in my retirement.
