5thWolf Posted Tuesday at 01:44 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:44 PM (edited) Is there a way to manually force the LaunchBox DB ID# when adding a game? I am trying to add the Windows game "Nightingale" and it doesn't show up. But the DB is there for it! I even contributed the box art, clear logo and the screenshots to see if would trigger something. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/427865-nightingale Edited Tuesday at 01:50 PM by 5thWolf Quote
C-Beats Posted Tuesday at 02:11 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:11 PM First step would be to ensure you have the latest GamesDb definition. To do so go to Tools > Download > Force Download Games Database (not the exact label, but I don't recall what it is exactly. Pretty sure bottom most item). This will grab the latest DB file for you. Then try the search again and see if you can find it. 1 Quote
5thWolf Posted Tuesday at 03:30 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:30 PM Latest one usually updates everyday. But did it and nothing. This game just doesn't appear. Does it appear for you if you were to search for it when adding? This is the first game I have ever seen that didn't show / populate. Quote

You may want to go to the launching page and cut (CTRL+X) the value in it, then do the search again on the metadata page and paste the launch path back in after the search 1 Quote
C-Beats Posted Tuesday at 03:33 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:33 PM Would also check your platform and make sure it has it's Scrape As value properly set to "Windows". Just noticed your platform isn't named to the GamesDB standard. 1 Quote
5thWolf Posted Tuesday at 03:50 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:50 PM (edited) I did scrap it as Windows. Changed name for better sorting for me. Can you elaborate more on the instruction you gave for the launching page and metadata paste? What is the launching page? the games data file or just the window for editing the game? Also metadata page, that the DB site for the game or a file in metadata folder? Sorry about my confusion. Or just maybe find the DB ID in the games xml and ad it in there manually? 5thWolf Posted Tuesday at 04:11 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 04:11 PM Ok I got it to work! I edited the platform's game list and deleted the games ID, then saved the xml change. Restarted LB and it came up in the search. How odd. 🤷♂️ Quote

Apologies, I meant in Add/Edit Game window. On the left where the different pages are listed there is a "Launching" page. This shows the application path of the game. If the game is from Steam it's logic is a bit different when looking for a match and so removing it from there before doing it (and then putting it back after) can sometimes help with DB listings not coming up correctly.
