Using ancient Mame .139 with a functioning curated partial set of .139 roms

I can launch my games through the Mame.exe Binary.  I can launch them in my former front end (Mala don't laugh it has done a great job for 10 years on 6 system).  But for the life of me I don't  know what I'm doing wrong in LB.  I can't do the full set import I don't have a full set and even if I did the auto setup only goes back to mame .162  .   So I set up the Mame as stand alone emulator and direct it to the Mame.exe binary. Every tutorial seems that all the defaults should set automatically.  imported all the roms They show in LB (beautifully) But they don't start.  I'm guessing I'm missing some thing simple But could use some tips.  My dreamcast and Turbo grafx seem to work good.

you dont have to import a full romset. install the version of mame you want in the emulators folder (i run my roms from the mame roms folder within this) configure yor mame location in the emulators setup

(mine is running 258) and just drag and drop the roms into the  launchbox window - import roms - arcade - use the files in their current location.

I only have 40 Arcade roms on my system.

Hope this helps

With MAME 0.139, the command-line parameter -keyboardprovider dinput is not an available parameter.  It was added in version 0.168.  So you will need to remove that from the Default Command-line Parameters in BOTH the Details section, and in the Associated Platforms sections (if it's also in the latter).

If after removing that parameter they still don't launch, as @mikekim suggested, place (move) your ROMs into your ../Arcade Flag ship Gametron Mala/Mame/mame0139s/roms/ folder.

Then in LaunchBox, you can: Select all games in that platform (click one, then press Ctrl+A to select all), then go to Tools < File Management < Change ROMs Folder Path for Selected Games... and select the "roms" folder [above].  This will point the ROM paths to their new location [without having to reimport them].

Note: removing -keyboardprovider dinput from the Command-line Parameters will make the LaunchBox pause menu NOT WORK

But that's ok.  Pausing an Arcade game is sacrilege anyway. ;)

Gotta pause to go get more pizza duuuuuuddddeee!
