Hi everyone,

You’ve probably heard of -McFly-’s Games Archive — and if you have, then you might also know that he’s been looking for someone to take over his games archive before permanently deleting the collection on November 15th.

Well, I’m here to announce that I’ll be taking over and continuing to develop the incredible games collection McFly has built. I already have some exciting plans for the next steps of this project. My goal is to create a dedicated website platform with proper indexing and organization for all the games.

Just like McFly envisioned, the main mission remains the same:

As part of this initiative, I’ll also be forming a small team to help expand and maintain the collection over time.

Games Archive Development and Preservation

The main focus after the transition of ownership is to ensure proper preservation of retro games released before 2010,

safeguarding them before they are lost to time. Each team will begin with small, foundational steps, progressively expanding and refining their work on a monthly basis.

Collaboration, consistency, and careful documentation will guide every phase of development.

Phase 1

✅ Gain full ownership and access to the Games Archive

 ✅ Establish Project Management Tool and create a minimal structure ( JIRA )

 ✅ Create Workflows and Way of Working for Teams ( Link )

At least for now, not really, since one of the goals is to preserve the games, and currently we have missing games from what I saw, and missing data/images for the games.

When collections will start to be in a more advanced state, probably that will be an option to think about (only to think about).

~ because, after uploading to internet archive, we will lose any control over it and we will not be able to update the collections anymore

So, for now, is not an option.

Ohh they are incomplete?  Yeah, i think you have to just delete and re-upload entire collections if you want to update there.  Bummer.

Not really, I'm a programmer, so... there are other ways to update collections in a more useful and easy way

Btw, no all of them are incomplete. just some of them. I will have soon a tracking for this, and I will analyze the collections

Many are incomplete due to them simply being missing from the web. Some games become available or found by people and ripped for everyone, some are incomplete due to bad rips, etc. The archiving should have started about 30 years ago when everything was new and available, but here we are.

This archive needed someone like Hayato to take it over and do it justice, someone who can drill deeper into it that I ever did. I'm looking forward to seeing the work he does for the community.

Hi Guys,

I updated the description with multiple details, we now have:

• Better Tracking & Documented Tracking
• An evaluation for the current state of the archive
• A roadmap for actual work that needs to be done, each task documented
• A discord server were we can gather and build something great ! ( Link in description )
• A organized structure for creating teams and dividing work in the next months
• Multiple solutions for multiple problems ( regarding preservation / restoration / storage / management etc. )

Until a more advanced state of this project, I will be found only on Discord ! ( starting from now )
