Erv G kid Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago So when I add a none rom game I look in my G drive for the installed game. I add the exe file and it imports pc game just fine and it plays. I wanted to move my installed games to a bigger drive because I'm out of room. After I transfer the entire folder to the new drive I tell launcgbox where to find the new folder but I keep getting this message The specified application folder for this game does not exist. I don't have this problem when moving around Roms. Does anyone have a fix for this? It will take me hours to update every pc games file path. Quote
fromlostdays Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) I'm guessing that you changed the directory to another main PC games directory, but all the games' exes are in subdirectories/subfolders, so launchbox can't find them. I don't know of a great way to fix this, but this is what I would do: Open Launchbox Delete all PC Games Open PC Games directory (windows folder with with all the games folders in it) Do a windows search for ".exe" Drag all the exes into launchbox for import When you get to the screen where it lists all the games you're about to import, delete any unnecessary exes (these could take the form of launchers, uninstall exes and others) leaving only the games. Import, and you should be good to go. Or wait a bit to see if anyone knows a better method. And be careful changing directories when your games or roms are in subdirectories/subfolders. Goodluck! Erv G kid Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Thanks but there's so many ,exe files showing up wish they could come up with a better way. I guess I can make shortcuts ove every games exe put it in one folder and add them that way the only problem with that is if I start from the begging launchbox wont find the art work and videos of each game if the shortcut names are diffrent. For PC games, the executable for each game is in its own subfolder (or /sub/subfolder/). So, to do a bulk-change-executable-location is not reasonably feasible. That said, you could do it manually. If your games were in (for example) G:\My PC Games\this_is_game_1\game1.exe G:\My PC Games\this_is_game_2\game2.exe G:\My PC Games\this_is_game_3\some_subfolder\game3.exe G:\My PC Games\this_is_game_4\game4.exe And now they're in H:\All My Games\My PC Games\this_is_game_1\game1.exe H:\All My Games\My PC Games\this_is_game_2\game2.exe H:\All My Games\My PC Games\this_is_game_3\some_subfolder\game3.exe H:\All My Games\My PC Games\this_is_game_4\game4.exe ...where the only thing that changed was the 1st part of the path... With LaunchBox not running and using a text editor, edit the platforms xml file and do a bulk find and replace. Quote
fromlostdays Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) This brings up a good point. I've never done this so I don't know if launchbox erased the game folder names or if you changed the folder structure a little in the new location. What might (or might not) help is if you provided us with an example of the actual directories (redact folder if personal information or name), one example of the current one and one example of where that game is actually located. You can get the current director launchbox is looking for the game in by right clicking any game and clicking "Edit" and then going down to the "Launching" tab. Then provide the actual directory the exe is in (we only need one example). We'll be able to tell if we can use some text editing to just bulk fix the config file. I use shortcuts for old GOG games in just that way and recommend it. On import launchbox isn't going to care if he name is slightly different provided it matched the game before and matches the shortcut to its internal database. If it doesn't for all of them you can just fix the misses manually. One more thing, even with the multitude of exes the original suggestion still might not be the worst idea. On the import screen that lists all games about to be imported, just clicking an entry and pressing Delete on the keyboard should remove it, so it can be done pretty quickly.
