Hi. I just purchased Big Box and I'm having trouble with the video snaps.

There seems to be a delay in playing them where Audio starts first and then they start out black and pixelated. After a few seconds it turns to normal full colour.

I've disabled Nahimic on my laptop and made sure my codecs are all up to date with K-Lite. My snaps are all .MP4 and work perfectly in LaunchBox and VLC.

Not sure why Big Box is having difficulties with them.

Any help would be appreciated.

What version of LaunchBox/Big Box are you using?  VLC was depreciated in version 13.21.

Note that setting the video playback engine (WMP or ffmpeg [v13.23 or newer]) is separated between the 2 UI's.

  • LaunchBox - Tools < Options < General < Video Playback
  • Big Box - System Menu < Options < Videos < Video Playback Engine

In Big Box, try going in there and selecting "the other" playback engine.  (Since LaunchBox is working, DON'T TOUCH IT in its options! ;))

If running a Nvidia card make sure to set the color depth setting to "Full". By default it's set to limited which clamps pixels on either extreme end of the contrast scale which causes EmuMovies fade in from black to look all weird and pixelated as described.image.thumb.png.abd9314f685617a7df09d0549b3855b5.png
