dmaker Posted Saturday at 10:29 PM Posted Saturday at 10:29 PM Today I noticed when trying to use my usual combo to exit a game (Select + Start) that the game will still exit but the screen freaks out a bit and looks like it tabs out briefly and then it throws the OSD keyboard up for me. Back button gets rid of it. Sometimes, though, in the case of MAME the game does not actually quit but lingers minimized in the background. I looked in Steam and tried to edit the controller desktop layout to one with no commands at all, but oddly this did not seem to help. I can see in the layout where the Select (or View) button is set to tab. I can't figure out why this suddenly started or how to stop it. Anyone else deal with this before? Thank you Quote
JoeViking245 Posted Saturday at 10:58 PM Posted Saturday at 10:58 PM With Steam not running in the background, do you experience the same thing? e.g. with MAME If so, disable Steam Input. It's known to cause "controller confusion" (for lack of better words). Quote With your controller on and connected, open Steam client. In the menu go to Settings > Controller. On that page go to Desktop Layout and then press edit. Then in that Window disable Steam Input. Save and close. Quote
dmaker Posted Saturday at 11:12 PM Author Posted Saturday at 11:12 PM Thank you for the suggestion. The issue does not happen with Steam shutdown. However, disabling steam input did not make a difference. Quote
Solution dmaker Posted Saturday at 11:20 PM Author Solution Posted Saturday at 11:20 PM I think I got it sorted now. There were two controller layouts: desktop and guide button chord layout. I could disable steam input for the desktop layout but not for the other one. After I went into that one and removed the command for select and start, the problem no longer happens. 1 Quote
