  1. ok, so suggest me some games guys, im completely new to the whole arcade game thing, never really played, im building an arcade cabinet and its awesome having all these old snes/nes/etc games i want some more real arcade games(preferably with old school style leaderboards and everything) so far i have all the snes games worth playing, all the nes games i remember from my childhood, all the sonic the hedgehogs on genesis, and a few GBA. i have no idea how to get into MAME, or what games to seak out, im assuming it runs just like any other emulator right?
  2. you can also make your own, albeit a bit tedious. i just use nvidia shadowplay to record some gameplay, then save the recording in the games native res, then load up a video editor and cut out the parts i want, then move them to the launchbox video folder and name them exactly the same as the game i want it to play for.
  3. Retroarch is like a middleman between launch box and your game, it can set a control scheme that will automatically map itself to whatever core/platform you are playing, think of it like a virtual gamepad that you map your physical controls to. For your question of game specific controls, that should be doable, i know you can do custom button maps per core, wouldnt know how to do it per game, but im sure its similar.
  4. i only really intend to use it for super monkey ball, and for those not aware the gameplay revolves around tilting the board and rolling the monkeyball to the goal. im just trying to figure out how i would play this game in a cab since it requires heavily on analog controls, but arcade sticks are only digital and im afraid that if i map the digital sticks to the analog in retro arch/dolphin that when i press any direction on the stick it will be like hold the analog to the max in any direction, which will not work for super monkey ball, needs some kind of analog input.
  5. Ah, thanks for the clarification
  6. is this possible? been thinking about installing a trackball in my cabinet and this is the make or break for me, if i cant map a trackball to an analog stick for retroarch and dolphin im probably not going to install one. something in my head says super monkey ball, and super monkey ball 2 would be really fun with it.
  7. ok, ive got most of the software set up and ready to go and im going to begin work on the cabinet and i have a question. ive been thinking about putting a trackball in my cabinet and i was wondering if their was a way to map the trackball to an analog stick in retroarch and dolphin? i only really want to put a trackball in their because i think super monkey ball would be fun with it. i know this is probably the wrong place to ask this, was just wondering if you guys had some input, if its not feesible/crazy/dumb just let me know, its litterally the only reason i want to put a trackball in my cabinet.
  8. in retroarch theirs a way to set specific games to play on specific cores also. i dont remmeber exactly the process though, something like open retroarch, open the core you want to play the game with, load the game, then bring up the menu and go to core overide or something. then when launchbox tells retroarch to load the rom it will load the associated core with it.
  9. may not be of much help, but what i ended up doing was downloading all of the video snaps from the emumovies website, the go to the directory where i saved them, find each game that i wanted in my machine and manually move them into my launchbox>videos>(console name)>theme then renamed t hem to match the rom i wanted them to pair with. im using the unified theme though.
  10. Ah, I just found the installation file and ran it pointing to the same directory, fixed it and didn't change any of my settings. Thanks for the advice though, ill remember it later
  11. i accidently clicked the unninstal exe when i was tired, i canceled it before it was done and it said rolling back changes, but now neither LB or BB open, i just get a windows prompt with "has stopped working close program" do i have to reinstall everything?
  12. i swear i changed this somehow and i dont remember how to go back. im using the unified theme and when i go into a game list it just has a background for the console im browsing, is their a way to make the background change to whatever game is selected? and how do i change the video that plays in the little box? some games play the videos for other games, for instance super mario brothers on nes shows the video for super mario bros 3 nes, and the box art is some 25th anniversery box. should i have put this in my other topic? i dont know.
  13. its the laptop, i installed BB on my main computer(fx6300, gtx 1050ti, 16gbddr3) and it runs flawlessly their with all the same settings. i cant really blame it though, the laptop has seen better years. i have another motherboard with an fx6300 that im going to donate to the project, just gotta get some ram, 8gb should be more than enough right?
  14. i have an old compaq cq56 laptop from eaons ago that ive been trying to build into an arcade cabinet, ive been fighting this thing basically in the dark for weeks before finding this place. to start off i formatted the system and reinstalled win7+drivers, installed Retroarch and lb/bb(after many failed attempts at getting other frontends running) aaaaand it runs horribly, very horribly. im bad at typing so im just going to put my problems into list form lol LB takes almost a minute to load LB takes a very very long time to populate my list of games, set it overnight to wake up to a low memory warning from windows(i got 2GB) BB takes alot longer than LB to load using the unified theme i have a black background on the platform wheel, and the platform wheel is invisible, the game wheel moves fine for awhile but if i scroll to fast it doesnt populate(cahed images and stuff not loading?) sometimes BB will crash giving me an error about sound files or something(happen a couple times, didnt take notes sorry) BB has encountered an unexpected error and has to close (i see this one alot) and the last thing, when i first installed BB i only loaded 6 games as a test and it would load the games fine and start them(menus were still laggy as all hell) but when i threw mly library of 103 games at it i started to run into the above mentioned problems. oh and when loading a game now i get the LOADING GAME screen, then after the screen goes away im still in big box with full control, if i close big box Retroarch is open in the background paused. any kind of help anybody can offer a man? EDIT: i think the computers borked, i just got a low ram warning from windows while posting this and i only have chrome and task manager open.
