  1. oh damn 100% user error. user being me. i just realized what was going on. i feel pretty stupid. i can't even tell you what was happening or you would never want to help me out again. lol. Well thanks and sorry to waste your time on this! seriously
  2. i deleted the cfg file but still the same look. im a little nervous to reinstall it and start from scratch because i dont want to mess up my gaming setup. is it possible to install it on the same computer twice or will that mess things up? im still messing around with it.
  3. oh damn, sorry, I was trying to be helpful, but it figures my first attempt would be mis-information. lol. but seriously some consoles of mine did not work until i unzipped, but maybe i did something wrong with command lines or something who knows. Ok so just to clarify, stragglyaphid... do NOT listen to me. lol.
  4. lol i added it back nowe it let me delete it finally. lol, maybe i wasnt abel to delete originally ebacuse i had just posted. maybe there is a time limit.
  5. actually its probably that... you need to not have them zipped... if i recall, that is similar to what i went through. soem console games work zipped, and others dont. and i mean take it out of the folder also. like dreamcast... i had to pull the files completely out of folders in order for those games to work.
  6. any chance this was the second time installing any snes games? I doubt it by what you wrote but a moderator helped me previously and i had to select "force import of duplicate games" because i had a set prior but deleted them. so you could just try importing 1 game as a test. and set it to "force import duplicate". its on one of those screens. obviosuly de-select all the downloads so it can take just 1 second. another thing might be how your files are stored. i dont have my snes files (file extension smc) inside of a zip. so try unzipping one file. and then import just that file and see if it works.
  7. thanks as always Lordmonkus. you guys are always helpful. and it is very much appreciated.
  8. i dont know how to remove that last image. lol. it was duplicated. oh well. lol.
  9. I figured this might add to helping newcomers. Here's the parts i purchased to build a 4 player arcade cabinet: Wood - I bought Three 8'X4' MDF panels. $90 i think. and i might enough left to build a bartop arcade. Controls - I bought all mine from ultimarc. I spent $381 to get the following: 37 happ buttons; crimp connectors 4.8mm (because they didnt sell that size at my home depot); IPAC 4; Four J Stik Controllers; U Trak Trackball and optional trim bezel... Monitor - I bought a 32" Insignia flat screen at Best Buy for $89 on Black Friday. (Insignia™ - 32" Class - LED - 720p - HDTV Model:NS-32D220NA18 SKU:5747454) Speakers - I bought a speaker setup from Bestbuy for $20 during black friday. - Logitech - z213 2.0 Multimedia Speaker System (3-Piece). The speaker wires were too short though so i had to cut them and use wire i had in the house to extend them. (they wouldn't reach the sub since the speakers go on the top of the cabinet) Fans - I wanted to make sure nothing overheated so i went big on this. too big. i think you can just use the single fan (two of them), I paid $80 ($40 each) for dual fans... Search Amazon for: AC Infinity AIRPLATE S7, Quiet Cooling Fan System 12" with Speed Control, for Home Theater AV Cabinets LED's - $22 on Amazon. Search: SUPERNIGHT 16.4Ft 5050 Waterproof 300leds Light Strip,RGB Color Changing Kit Adhesive Tape with 44 Key Remote Control and 12V DC 5A Power Supply Computer - I already had a Dell XPS 8300 windows 7 i5 with AMD Radeon 6700 series graphics card. it was sitting in the garage for 3 years. Hard Drive - I bought a $90 2 TB internal drive Software - Big Box!!!!! You have to get this! Games - Mame 0.204 complete set with SL set and media files. among others... For newcomers, because this was VERY confusing... Put all the bios files inside the mame rom folder. then put all the mame SL bios files inside the mame SL rom folder... Then set mame rompath to see both of those folders.... by editing mame.ini. and mine didnt have a mame.ini, so i found somewhere on LB forums how to go into command prompt to force creation of a mame.ini.. Use a semi colon to seperate the two paths .. basically your rompath within the mame.ini file will look like this: F:\Emulation\Roms\MameRoms;F:\Emulation\Roms\MameRomsSL EmuMovies - $20 You need to sign up with them to get access to lots of media, and seriously they deserve it. Graphics - I only made a control panel graphic so far. It cost about $85 from gameongrafix. it was very nice in my opinion. I made the graphics from downloading tons of images and setting it up on photoshop so that my buttons would not cover any characters face etc. Paint - I already had Blue paint because i was painting my basement (NY GIANTS! man cave lol). But i think the paint was like $25. Wire and receptacles - I already had proper wire and receptacles and a light switch because i had previously done work in my basement. Drywall Screws - I used coarse drywall screws 1" 5/8 $10 Screws - Half Inch Sheet metal screws for screwing in the joycticks and hinges. $5 (i think) You need a predrill bit with a preset/sink or whatever it's called so you can drill into the mdf and it clear out a little sink space so the screw wont protrude. Other than that, you need tools like a jig saw, circular saw, drill, wire crimpers. I had those already. Keyboard and mouse - I had them already but i ended up buying wireless ones for convenience. $27 for my mouse, and $15 for my keyboard at bestbuy. Wheels $20+ Cabinet Hinges - $10 Cabinet Hinge Router - $5 - pretty cool little bit. makes life easy. Drawer Slides - $20 I bought really nice ones for my drawer where i keep the keyboard and mouse --- So see it gets expensive, but 100% worth it. I'm no carpenter and i still did it. i made mistakes.. but i think im the only one who sees them. I'll post the pics below I found this joystick layout on a website so i drew it to scale on a piece of paper, then traced the outside of the paper onto my control panel board. i measured to make sure t was even with all angles etc. Then fast forward..... and i sanded it with a sander. use sandpaper if you don't have one. then i cut out one side with a circular saw and jig saw (for angles etc). Once cut, i laid it on top of the leftover mdf and traced it and cut the second side out. (you can see i initually drew my side panel too thin) This part was hard to get lined up... i put wheels on the bottom. fast forward... (i initally spray paint the control board but the spray paint sucked.. it woudl wipe off on my hand days later) also, you shoudl proabbly put the comntrol board on last because i was just excited and impatient. lol. ) the top lifts up to access ipac 4 and all the wiring. i used cabinet hinges on the back wall of control panel. added two recepticals and a light switch on the out side of the cabinet. Painted it blue. Got my graphics.... Mostly done.. i still need to do my marquee and the t-trim molding. but im happy..
  10. thanks man. I have an i5 Dell XPS 8300 running windows 7. 6 GB memory AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series. I feel like that should be good enough to run snes games, but im new to this. i did run a gamecube game with ity and ps2 games so far. i probably messed something up in video settings because its not that good at all in retroarch. i'll keep testing it.
  11. damn i just got unified set up properly and now i like this new one youre doing! lol the BB journey will never end! lol it looks real good man
  12. maybe im missing something in video setup, but i am using retroarch and snes9x emulator core and "alladin" was kind of flickery and not that smooth, a very slight delay etc. it was not worth playing really. (i was just using alladin as a test) but then i went into snes9x emulator stand alone, and it played great. graphics were perfect. a lot of people mention to use retroarch so i feel as though it must be my own error or a setting im not doing. if anyone has theirs setup, let me know if im missing something. i went into "video" but not much there that i would know how to mess with so i really dont think i messed anything up. ... yet. lol
  13. hmm, it might be do-able. Just so i make sure i understand this.... The piece of the router that sits on top of my control panel (and graphics) does 'not' spin? and therefore wont scratch my graphics? if that's the case., i will be going to rent one today or tomorrow. or possibly buy one depending on how expensive they are let me know, and thanks for your help and explanation. it is very much appreciated. my graphics wont last long with no molding at the edges
  14. thanks man. yeah 3 weeks from now i will forget this. i have to make cheat notes on my desktop for various emulators. lol.
  15. Hey man thanks for sharing your snapshot. I deleted my cfg file to start all over again and i left it as up, down, left, right, like you have yours set to and its working. I think thats weird because my jpystick is not my arrow keys, it is num keys. like if i try and set my up mapping in retroarch and i use my joystick it will set it to a num key. not an arrow key. so that is confusing but as long as it works im good. lol. i appreciate the help.
  16. Hello, i am really stumped. i read everything online i could possibly read and still stumped. I have an arcade cabinet with buttons and joysticks etc. using an ipac4. In retroarch, i am unable to get the joystick to work. The buttons work though. Ive mapped the joystick to the D-pad, to the analog left stick, etc but nothing works. My joystick keys are Keypad 8 (up) keypad 2 (down) etc.. and when i test out a game, my joystick will not work, but the actual keypad buttons on my keyboard do work. Also, my buttons on my control panel work too. so it's just the joystick for some reason. I attached an image, i set "user 1 device type' and 'analog to digital type' to every possible combination. i did successfully map an xbox 1 controller. but im trying to set all my emulators up to use my arcade cabinets control panel (except for games that require two sticks). has anyone gotten retroarch to work with their arcade cabinet joysticks? if so please share how you did it. its driving me nuts. its 7AM and still havent slept yet. lol.
  17. just curious. i think bigbox is insane. im freakin loving it. but figured i would just ask because me and my son were playing random console games on big box and i have 'game details' off (so that my nephew doesnt start messing things up accidentally), but thought it woudl be a nice feature to be able to map a key to the control panel to view the manual (to see game controls and special abilities, etc) . just figured i would ask. but if not, i guess i could actually map a key to "show game details" and that way i could keep game details off for the little kids. (unless they press the key lol).
  18. damn, yeah i use ipac4 so its supposedly like an extra keyboard. i didnt get a chance to mess with it again today, but im going to try tomorrow. i appreciate the help. i'll give it a shot just in case it works (unless the ipac 4 interferes)
  19. thanks man, I have it mapped. its just not working. im going to mess around tonight with it again.
  20. yeah I wish I thought about it prior to building this thing because I would have bought the tool. but now that its painted and soen fo the graphics are on, I think the tool would scratch it all up. because I assume it has to ride the angled surface.
  21. has anyone been able to get their control panel buttons to adjust volume in mame? Im able to do it in Big Box but once i get to mame, i cant control the volume. I went into mame settings where volume is and i assigned my button for volume down and another for volume up. but once i run mame im unable to adjust volume. Even if i use the buttons on the actual keyboard. im using mame0204. *fyi when it was default "-" and "+", it still did not work.
  22. thanks man i appreciate it. I dont have the router or whatver its called to create the groove for t molding. i'll head to home depot tomorrow and try and figure something out, lol
  23. I'm so glad i found Launchbox, I asked a ton of questions in this forum, and the mods and other members always helped me out. So thank you all very much! I finally built my first arcade box. I'm a little disappointed in myself because there are a few mistakes but i know better for the next build. I made a 4 player cabinet and I knew prior that it would be big, but i needed gauntlet, i needed it!!. lol. I used to have the real gauntlet in my living room back in my 20's and i think it only cost $700 back then. now the price is insane. I think my roommate back then bought a centipede for only about $300. times changed quick. lol I'm not a carpenter but this thing is SOLID. in fact its too big to get out of my house so if i sell, i guess they get this with it. lol. (its not totally finished, I have to order the marquee). Actually, i have a question in case someone might know... I made up a graphic for my control panel with photoshop and i got it printed at gameongrafix. its nice, they did a great job. but what do you guys put around the edges to keep people from messing up the edges of the graphics? I seen a video where some guy had a router and used "t" something but i dont have a router and i doubt i could get it straight like that, so is there another method? just curious. ok i wrote a novel. lol
