Hello, I was in mame (standalone) and came across electronic football! (cnfball.zip). i used to have this as a kid. it works in mame great. I imported all mame roms but this was not incluided (i guess because it wasnt an arcade game). so i wanted to import it now. i successfully imported it into arcade but then i deleted it because it not an arcade. lol. so i created my own platform called "Electronic games" I tried importing into that new platform but it keeps saying zero roms imported. I select mame as the emulator, i dont undeerstand what "scrape" means. but i think i selected "arcade". i deselected all of the options where it asks to "skip puzzle games, etc". ive tried 5 times to import but unbsuccesffuly unless i impoort nunder mame arcade (but i rather not mix it with arcade). anyone know what im doing wrong?

thanks everyone. I finally got it working with MAME. whew that was stressful. lol i was missing a key step. thanks for the help you guys BTW Some consoles look better on mame (im using mame 0.204). Like Atari Jaguar has a jaguar intro that was not shown when launching with retroarch… some games were zoomed in on retroarch and part of the game was off screen - pretty weird). but mame plays them real nice.

Happy new Year you guys! I set up the command lines but i couldn't get it to work. My screen went black like it was loading but then just returned to LB. I'm looking for sets not related to mame but still curious how people get the mame SL console roms to play on mame.

i clicked edit inside LB to see what file it was pointing to and it was pointing to the SL NES folder. i had gotten it from 0.204 complete set. Maybe the place i downloaded it from had it in their SL set. any chance you guys have a tutorial on here on how to get mame to play SL games? ive searched alot on the internet and never found anything that made me understand yet. I'll mess with it again tonight and try and figure it out. im actually building my first cabinet - pretty excited. im obsessed. lol.

thanks man. that makes sense. Heres something odd. not sure if i should create a new thread. its kind of related. because its in teh same progress as me trying to figure this out. I have a nintendo rom game listed in LB. '1942'. I have it set to launch with mame. when i launch it, it looks exactly like the arcade mame verison of the same game '1942'. I mean it asks for quarters and everything. is LB set to skip a nintendo rom if mame already has it for arcade?

oh damn. well that explains that. lol. Well if anyone is interested, I had set up atari 2600, 7800, jaguar, snes and sega genesis (from mame set SL) with retroarch and they worked. but yes a bunch of others did not work. Well one more question. its not as simple as setting mames default platform to nintendo entertainment system, is it? I did that and a bunch of titles didnt work. I also added the SL roms path to rompath in mame.ini and launched mame standalone and i dont even see the new games. is it because to use NES or other SL games in mame there are more steps to take than just adding the roms?

Just curious. I have a full set of NES roms from mame complete set 0.204 (SL) but the zips contain CHR and PRG extension files. I cannot get them to run in retroarch or mesen. However I have a few NES roms from years ago where the zips contain files with NES extension. and those all work great. I could just use those old roms but i only have a few dozen of them where as the rom set 0.204 SL came with a few thousand (i think it was). i searched retroarch forum and dont see anything about that and i couldnt even figure out how to post a question there. maybe because i just joined. not sure. anyone know anything about this

When im in Big Box, i start off at platform view. once i click a platform (arcade for example), I see the list of games and whichever one i scroll to shows a video. now once i click on the game after seeing the video, is there a way to launch the game right there? because currently it will open up another game view showing the same video again, and list a bunch of options on the side (play, open with, start with, open folder, open mame, etc). just checking thanks.

I wanted to write and explain the attached images. I showed emulator settings for both ePSX and Retroarh.. and then the other screen shot is when i launch crash bash from within LB, retroarch (beetle core) still tries to open Crash Bash even though i dont have retroarch set as the emulator for crash bash.

thanks for the reply. Hopefully i understand correctly. In retroarch I do have crash bash set to correct core and I have the bios files. I dont get the last question. ** something new and odd just happened. i tried a 2nd core in retroarch ("sony - beetle psx"). and it didnt work. so in LB i went into edit emulators... i deselected sony playstation for retroarch.. and i selected sony playstaton for ePSX. I closed out and relaunched LB and when i double click crash bash it 'still' tries to launch using retroarch beetle (it wont work) and beetle launches & shows minimized in taskbar. thats how i know its trying to use retroarch beetle core instead of ePSX like i selected. oddly, if i right click crash bash in LB, and choose launch in ePSX then it works good. So im thinking that it may always work in ePSX but LB is not allowing me to set it to use ePSX as default event though i choose it in the emulation settings. does this make sense? (which is why i thought it wasnt working in ePSX earlier because it never tried. it kept trying retroarch regardless what emulater settings are set to). i attached screenshots. hopefully not too confusing

Hello, If theme is set to "Default", There are no game videos (when highlighting a game). If theme is set to "Critical Zone", There are no Platform Images (its just blank). Is there a way to have both? I like seeing platform images, but then it takes the game videos away.

Hello, I tried Crash Bash in Retroarch and in ePSX emulator and works in both. But within LB it will not launch. I tried 2 ways... (1) linked to retroarch... (2) linked to ePSX When i double click on CrashBash in LB, it says "now loading" and the CD Rom spins. about a second later it just quits. I only have this one PS game so far, but i did get it working in two other emulators. so just curious if there is a step im missing. Anyone know what i can do to get it working -----my details---- i5 Windows 7 PC AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series Big Box <---- i upgraded yesterday! loving it

hello, i installed the update that was prompted. now when i try to launch LB, it starts to load up but then just minimizes and i can see its icon on my task bar at the bottom. but when i right click and select 'launchbox', i get a popup window for about 1 second that says "initializing", but it disappears and im not able to get into launchbox. did the update affect anyone else? if not , i will uninstall and re-install.

I havent used torrents in years. I joined pleasure dome and it says you cannot use a private proxy or a vpn. Just curious why that is, because i thought the goal was to hide your ip. just thought that would send flags to the cable provider. Im just curious what people generally do. I lowered my download rate to 7 mb/s thinking that is somewhat helpful but i doubt it. or am i worried for nothing.

And yeah I Like talking about all of this stuff too. i have not stopped reading threads. im glad its the holiday week coming up because i doubt i will get much work done while im obsessing over this new habit. lol.
