thanks, yeah i probably somehow did something with retroarch. i did paste the blue machines and database folders into retroarch again (even though i had them alreayd) and i did check that the bios was there. i messed aroudn with retroarch so much i migt have messed soething up with the blue msx.

I had two folders... one was the mame roms, and the other was the mame SL roms. i put all the bios in the main mame rom folder. i was going to put them all in one folder but initially i had read somewhere where the person said not to mix them. but i dont think it woudl matter if i had mixed them. but too late now, im too nervous to start messing with them.,lol

yeah i just copied my rompath from 204 ini to 197 ini. (because i have two rom folders and didn't feel like writing it all out again. lol). and i didnt even move the roms.. in LB, i just right clicked and said "launch in mame197". and it worked. oh well,. yeah after setting all of this up, im not ever upgrading either until.... mame finishes emulating "the grid"... then i have to upgrade because me and my son used to play that in the arcade so i just "NEED" it. LOL

thanks everyone. Hey LordMonkus, I installed a second mame (197 like you mentioned) and now the .col roms work when I launch them from LB using the mame 197. So thank you very much for that. I am curious why it works in 197 and 205 (as spycat says) but not in 204. that was weird. i figured it could be user error except I have both versions of mame set to use coleco -cart (in Launchbox), and I even copied and pasted the rompath to the new mame197 ini file (from the mame204 ini file). well that was odd, but either way, thanks for helping me out with this you guys.

@CDBlue, thanks, i had those folders set up already and i double checked just now to make sure i have the bios, and all was good. @Harryoke, i was under the impression that mame would only run roms from a mame romset? im still learning, but ive tried mame, and just tried again and it will not run any of the roms i have that are 'non-mame' and file extension ".col" sucks because these are the games i used to play. lol and as far as troubleshooting, i downloaded one game from two different sites and they both have .col and neither will play in retroarch or mame.

Hello, I used the colecovision roms from mame 204 SL and they work in mame 204. (their extensions are "1" "2" "bin") But that set was missing some good games like "war games" that i used to play all the time, lol. so i grabbed war games from a site where their coleco vision roms are file extension ".col". and mame wont load it, and retroarch wont load it either. i have a few .col roms from another place that wont load either. so im just curious if anyone else happened to use .col roms and if so, what emulator did you use? below is my setting in mame - and this works with my mame SL roms. and below is my setting in retroarch thanks for your time

Thanks for replying. I went back in to mess with it today and it lets me configure the controller in demul ONLY if i hold the controller button down BEFORE pressing the demul config button. so i hold the joystick in up position, then click demul/up. and it will take the setting. pretty weird, but at least its working for me now. as far as pcsx2, i gave up on the xbox controller. i did finally get a ps4 cpmtroller to work, but each time my pc is rebooted, seems i have to go in and change settings again. Im using DS4 windows app and possibly it with the windows bluetooth are changing my controller id each time or something crazy that i cant comprehend. lol. because i'll have it working an dit will be id0. then i log in another day and it wont work, i go in and now my buttons are registering as id3. confused, but again, at least its working.. somewhat. lol.

Thanks you guys! I kept having to force close mame. all is perfect now. very much appreciated. i didnt have a scroll lock on my keyboard. but after reading this i checked mame for scroll lock and changed it to F4. and all works great. JUMPMAN JR, here i come. lolol

- I know its unrelated to LB - and im sorry. just curious if someone has a solution. Mame works great for everything so far... But i was messing around with C64 games today (file extension .80 from the mamae204 SL set). mame will launch some of the games. but the keys are not responding to mames keys. i can figure out which keys move the character left , right etc, but none of mames function keys work. like i cant "tab" or "esc" or anything. Im actually unable to even exit mame when im done. I have to use window key/tab to make a different window active and then navigate to taskbar to 'close mame window". its like mame is ignoring all key settings. i tried using retroarch instead but i dont think this file extension (.80) works in retroarch becaus ei just get the blue C64 screen and no game ever gets loaded. so, just curious if someone has messed with the mame SL commodore 64 roms and foudn out how to get it working in mame or any emulator. thanks.

thanks actually i used to have a ps4 hooked up to it but honestly it's too big. at first i loved it, but even my son didn't like playing on it. lol. the screen is 10 ft wide so while playing call of duty etc, you literally have to turn your head to see shit so i died a lot more than usual. lol. cause i just couldn't see everything all at once. but movies and football games are great. lol I didn't set up heat in my basement yet either. i will this summer. it stays about 65 degrees in the winter in my basement (because its underground) so im kind of used to it. just wear extra shirts lol. but i do want heat for next year too. as far as recliners, i never even thought about that. what country are you in that they don't have recliners? P.S. see just now i was upstairs,, she started arguing with me.. so i just went downstairs to my realm. lol. easy escape. i might change it from "man cave" to "escape hatch". LOL

I like your garden man cave. real nice and especially since it's not connected to the main house!,, I'm ENVIOUS! I built out my basement into a man cave type of area. My wife has to be mad because im never in the living room anymore. lol

hey.. again. lol sorry you guys... i have another question Problem 1 - When trying to config a controller in Demul, It pre-populates all fields with the same entry. See attached snapshot. Ive googled and seems others have this issue, but no solutions. What controllers are any of you guys using with Demul? Ive tried with my PS4 and my Xbox One. (it does allow me to set my arcade cabinet controls, but dreamcast needs a controller) Problem 2 - PCSX2 will not allow me to connect the XBOX One Controller. It gets a few values correct while most use an axis value. Also, if it actualy does set "triangle" for example, then when i click on "circle" (to set that), it will just overwrite the entire previous triangle line, so that i still only have one 'wrong' entry.. P.S. I did get both working for Dolphin and Retroarch and tested two player games in both. I have no idea how i got it working in retroarch,.lol, that beast is CONFUSING as hell regarding multiple controller setup. My Controllers That I've tried using: (1) Xbox one Controller connected via bluetooth (2) PS4 controller connected via USB and DS4Windows App *Below is the demul snapshot. it will put that entry into every single field. I even disconnected that controller and tried the other controller and it did the same exact thing except the number was "2" instead of "3" Well any help is greatly appreciated. i feel like i'm almost done with my setup.

what? LOL OK, so then maybe that's why the mame 204 SL SNES set was playing bad anyway. It was listed in their set under a folder called SNES. So I was using the snes core instead of a genesis core. possibly they some genesis games inside the snes folder.. hmm, im curious now... I don't know why im curious, im not going to use that mame snes set anyway, but when I get home im going to load it with a genesis core and see if it works better. damn you know your stuff.

LOL I feel like this is a setup. LOL OK I had retroarch and snes9x pointing to two different sets of snes roms (the crappy one is from the mame 204 SL set). yes dumb mistake. I wasn't going through LB because LB was busy downloading vids etc for a console. I spent so much time messing with retroarch and snes9x - I didn't go to sleep til 7AM this morning. and woke up to mess with it again. no work today thank god. The real DUMB part is that the entire time I was messing with it, It never even hit me until today that both emulators were playing a different game scene... retroarch (mame204 SL rom) started Aladdin off with a sword, while when I tested out snes9x he started out with apples (to throw). then today I kept trying to figure out why the hell is it starting the game off at a different level. LOL Yes I feel stupid. lol.

oh yeah after your first description, i was sold on the idea. i meant to go to home depot today but missed the timing. I will definitely be there tomorrow to pick one up. I appreciate the video, it seems pretty simple. thanks again man.
